Question Looks like my family is moving to Tulsa!:)

Our family looks like we are transferring to Tulsa. Neither me nor my husband have lived anywhere but our home state, so we both are alittle nervous, and excited too. I have many questions.

We have two small children, so school districts are a concern of mine. I try to find info on here, but I would like some more details. I would like to buy in an out lying area. I think the areas I would like more details on would be : Owasso, Collinsville, Bixby, Glenpool. Would love to hear good and bad of them both, how far is it really driving everyday into tulsa, schools, and do those suburbs have shopping for quick needs?

If we do decide to rent(dont really want to, but just might have to, to start out) how hard is it to find something to rent in those areas, I wouldnt mind renting in tulsa, BA, but if I really want to live in those other areas, I would hate to change school districts.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated, anything as to what area to stay away from(crimewise), etc. I am trying to think of this as an adventure, and not let fear of the unknown to scare me. I know you guys should be a wealth of information!

PS Any websites etc, I welcome them. Cant wait for your responses.

Broken Arrow is great. There are still many outlining areas in Broken Arrow and many new shopping options in the city around 71st and Lynn Lane with more to come. Glad to have you join us in the Tulsa area. You will be happy here.

I can tell you that Broken Arrow voters are about to vote on a $295 Million dollar bond issue that will bring major upgrades and expansion around the district without raising taxes. Every school site around town will see major expansion and overhaul and a new Early Childhood School will be created for the 4-year old program in the district. Check out Broken Arrow Public Schools- Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Test scores are always high in Broken Arrow, Jenks, Owasso, Union. Great schools all around Tulsa!

You can rent in any of those outlying communities, no issues there. I lived in/around Owasso for 20+ years, great community with great schools and it's removed from Tulsa, albeit Owasso is getting kind of too busy as well IMHO. Decent shopping in Owasso, restaurant choices are average, no malls unfortunately though.

I'd suggest you PM Raelyn28 on here, she just went through this same relocation process a couple months ago from Oregon and I believe she settled in Broken Arrow.

Question couple of new ?'s

Thank you very much. I checked out the Broken Arrow schools website(thanks baguy) and it was very informative. I have a question though is there any major differences good or bad of living south of tulsa as to living north of tulsa? EX: Bixby/Owasso. Broken Arrow schools seem very nice and I have checked some rentals online... There are alot of choices to go into this move.

I do have another question? I am a SAHM, and our state doesnt have a 4year old program. Apparently OK does? Will she be behind the other children because of this (she starts Kindy)? I have taught her the standard stuff, ABC's, numbers, shapes, sounds, colors, etc.

Also is Kindergarten in Bixby, Owasso, Broken Arrow full day programs? And does any of your school district schedules go year round?

OK MAYBE a couple extra questions....

no year round school

not everyone does pre-k

North of town (owasso) relies on one highway to get to town. It was closed today due to a major accident and the results were BAAAD.

South (Bixby/BA) butts directly up to Tulsa and is generally higher growth.

Keep in mind city <> school district. Half of Jenks Schools are in Tulsa, Union schools are half in Tulsa, Half in BA, etc. I live in Tulsa and my square mile is Union, Jenks, and Tulsa.
