Well so much for an honest debate. Speak your mind and a chosen few slap you down. I don't rely too much on figures, percentages etc. because they change from one minute to the next. You can spout figures all day and it means nothing. I do however agree with the sentiments of Fenderman. There are many of us Tulsans that question the way the city budget has been handled. This has been a sore spot for several years it has now come to a head. I do not think anyone begrudges anyone else the splendor of the BOK or that wonderful ballpark that everyone seems to want to defend. People are simply asking for a thorough accounting of the money spent in all city areas regardless of where the money came from. People that actually live in Tulsa are very concerned about the lay offs in the Police department, the grounding of the police helicopter which was instrumental in capturing criminals and the horse patrol that worked crowd control. Let me remind all of you there is a bad criminal element here in Tulsa at the moment and understandably (forgive the spelling errors) people are frightned and concerned. We need more police presence not less. Now for those of you that seem to know what you are talking about. Tell me why the mayor had to take a helicopter from the old baseball field to the new one to deliver the home base? Who paid for it? Why are bids being taken for the remodel of the police chiefs office? Where is that money coming from? If we can afford perks like that why can we not afford to maintain a complete police force. Other questions remain and people simply want to know. I still love Tulsa I still think it is a good city despite all the problems but I as others do refuse to look at it through rose colored glasses. I refuse to sweep these problems under the rug just to make the city look good. All people are asking for is an accounting of the monies spent. People are angry right now please try to understand. Being mean and insulting to a poster is not the way to go a calm discussion goes alot further. We who live here want a safe clean and responsibly run city we have to be here 24/7 not just once in a while to shop or go to the BOK or the baseball park.

I'm not saying I don't agree with the situation with the TPD, but if you're going to present an argument and represent facts, make sure you cite the sources.

To say that the current situation with the PD has anything to do with the ballpark or the BOK Center smacks of sour grapes and puts you in the position of no credibility.

What makes me mad is the misrepresentation of facts just to further an agenda. So how could this be an 'honest' debate when the numbers don't add up?

Why can't you take someone at their word instead of accusing them of making up numbers? I have not knowingly misrepresented any facts.I can go to 5 different sources and get 5 different sets of numbers so I had to pick one to use to make my point. The 1100 police officers number came from this link.

APD | Reporting Crime/Citizen Complaints

The only agenda that I have is to see Tulsa become a much better city and part of that equation is to have the proper SIZE and EQUIPPED Police Force.

Maybe for the same reason you accused me of having financial ties to the BOK Center?

OK, it's obvious you can't be reasoned with, so I'll have no more of ANY debate with you. I'm merely pointing out that your numbers are flawed.

Moderator cut: I don't know what's going on here, but there are a couple people on the verge of infractions for personal insults. You know I don't want that to happen so PLEASE just stop this. Last warning.

Imagine if only a portion of this $900 + million dollars had been set aside to maintain a quality Police Force instead of building facilities and handing out corporate welfare we would not be in this position today.
No helicopters or mounted patrols is not anyway to operate a police force of a city this size.By the way, where did the Boeing Money go ???

Welcome

I guess you should have just stated that it is myself "fenderman" and the "big okie".
He started the insults on another thread by calling my opinion "moronic".
No matter how stupid an opinion is on this forum no one should result to personal insults. I do not need to be part of a forum that does not allow you to defend yourself when insulted. So you have my blessings to remove me from this forum. "fenderman"

Moderator cut: Well, apparently you would both like to be removed. We do not delete accounts so the alternative is to just stop logging on here. Just for future reference~Personal attacks are not allowed on the forum. They are infractable and my only mistake was trying to avoid infracting and trying to keep things peaceful. We need to keep conversations civil and refrain from personal attacks. Thanks
