Of course you are correct with that statement , but there are other
factors that come into play....meeting the right people..being in the
right place "at the right time..it's more than Hard Work/Smart Work..

Our poor areas are really poor, the wealthy areas quite impressive. And the numbers on each extreme are larger than usual it seems. The number of million dollar homes for example is larger than comparable cities, and even larger cities in the midwest and south. Then you go to the other extreme and find lots of homes that are dirt, dirt, cheap. Yes all cities have extremes, but ours seem to be larger and the examples more numerous than other similar cities.
The "average" incomes are not bad,,, but I wonder how we rank when you break it down? My bet is that you would find above average numbers of people in serious poverty in this city, and quite possibly an above average number of fairly wealthy people.

Tulsa's median income is higher than Tucson's. Median is a better indicator than average. I never liked averages when comparing incomes home prices and such, it is not a good indicator.
Tulsa is within .6% of Tucson's poverty level.
I guess it's just perception.

What are you talking about? OK is higher per capita gpd than Germany or UK.
And, calm down, you seem to take things way too seriously.

Howest2008, do you see my point though... we seem be be awfully hard on ourselves, when one of the poorest states in the US is wealthier than most of the wealthiest in Europe.
A difference, as mentioned above, is the wealth distribution. Here we have more very rich, more very poor. Socialist Europe has a much tighter bell curve than we do.
