Awesome pic Synopsis....Tulsa did more than a first class job with the Mid-Continent Tower. When I first saw it a long time ago I thought it was very old and of course stunning. It is a part of an older structure but for a modern art deco tower....I cant begin to imagine what it would have cost!!

There is a great pic of TU. It shows the bell. It has been a tradition for students to ring it upon graduation. This has been a tradition for a very very long time.

This one was taken from the BOK Tower, the tallest building in the six state region, so it is not included in the photograph.

Obviously taken during the drought of a couple of years ago...

Fell in love with the Philtower the day I laid my eyes on her (brass top). Also the Art Deco church (forgot the name)...Someone would be hard pressed to find a better looking church in the U.S.! The BOK Tower was designed by the same architect for the World Trade Center Towers and was intended to look the same. Nice pics...

I just love the Philtower too. It's a beauty. The Church is the Boston Avenue Methodist Church and it probably is one of the most beautiful churches in the US.

What beautiful photos! I always thought Tulsa was the best looking city of its size in the country. Tulsa residents should be very proud. I am heading that way tomorrow morning. My relatives live in far south Tulsa, it is absolutely gorgeous out there, but those two lane roads make me crazy...lol.

It's funny, when driving to Tulsa I used to come up 75 through all those little speed trap towns. Now I drive up the Indian Nations through Hugo. I had no idea how attractive the scenery was in that part of the state. It is a hidden gem.

Thanks sparkman! Yes, it really is a hidden gem throughout that part of the state. I live here in DFW like you (the FW side) and a lot of folks around here are increasingly spending vacation time to head up to the Southeastern part of Oklahoma. Many, who had never been to Tulsa before and saw it for the first time were like "Wow!"

I love all of the old art deco architecture in Tulsa. I'm a big, big fan of that stuff.

I thought you lived down here. I read these boards much more than I post. I have to say that your postings are always insightful and never spiteful. Your positive outlook is much appreciated.

I think I read somewhere that Tulsa had the largest surviving collection of art deco buildings. Is that true?

Thank you sparkman. That may very well be true. If not the largest then it is definitely one of the largest. There is so much art deco in the dowtown area it is stunning. And not just the outsides of these buildings are a work of art. Take a look at the interiors of some of these beauts..

Before I go to those. HT had mentioned the Mid-Continent Tower. It really is a beautiful building. Below is a close-up. Disclaimer. These are NOT my photos. They belong to a person named WilliamTheArtist. His website is immediately below - he is an extraordinary talent.

Now, on to the interiors of some of those buildings! NOTE: These are not all art deco, but are beautiful gothic examples nonetheless. And these are just a sampling of the great architecture in Tulsa.
