I like it. It gives more depth to the story.
I guess trying to give more insight on how everything got started, and more background on the characters.

So...this show definitely cannot be watched online? Or can it be? I wanted to see it tonight, but it just so happened I couldn't get home until it was almost over.

Anyone looking for it can find it on Hulu. That's Hulu - Watch your favorites. Anytime. For free. for those who might not know (although how you couldn't is a mystery to me).

I half watched it last night, I don't think I am too interested in this one anymore. The story is not good enough to suspend my disbelief of simple things in the show that didn't make any damn sense. Also, the back and forth in time is annoying to me not just as a plot device but how they are using it. They go back for 5 minutes, then forward for 5, then back for 5, then forward for 5. They need to spend more time focusing on one plot segment at a time.

Spoiler
Also, I don't think they really are aliens. They are probably from the future. #1, it seems a little early in the show to reveal the truth of where they come from and #2 I don't remember hearing the "others" actually say they are from another planet.

After about the first 20 minutes of the second episode, I switched to the Bones re-run on TNT. I'll give The Event one more shot. I'll watch the first two episodes back-to-back On Demand right before I watch the third episode on NBC. I found that the first episode was not memorable enough going into the second (like I didn't recognize who was who) one so maybe if I watch them one right after the other it will make a better impression.

I'll give it one more shot but the second episode complete lost my attention. Very predictable show. In fact in the second episode it's obvious what the show is going to be about. It's a combination of Independence Day, Lost, 24, Flash Forward, Fringe etc. etc. ad nauseum. There are so many better shows out there on cable. I can't even watch prime time channel shows anymore. They just suck and are all the same. I just watched Spartacus and it was amazing. Also Dexter is definitely one of my favorites.

The Event is going to be a flop.
