control.

Where I live I can pick up 23 English-language channels over the air, including alternative programming on secondary channels carried on the stations' digital broadcast signals. That's plenty enough for me. TV hasn't been interesting enough to pay for in a long time. If there's some cable series I just have to watch I can rent it on DVDs or watch it on Hulu or Netflix or even on a trustworthy pirate site or two.

I apartment sat for a friend of a friend one time and they didn't have any cable TV or internet at all. As a matter of fact, their TV only got one station. It was hard at first, but then it was great. I found myself doing more things, getting out more, being more creative. I was at the apartment for about 2 weeks and it was great. Then I went home and got back into the old rut of letting tv/internet interfere with everything.

I don't want to get rid of the internet because I do all my bill paying, etc online and I also do a lot of research online. I can probably live without the TV but I haven't gottten the courage to do that yet.
