Yeah Kirkman is on record saying he has no desire revealing what triggered the re-animation of the dead. So this "scientist" that Sergeant Abraham Ford is transporting to DC is a bit suspect. I've not read the comics so I dont know the back story on this but I'm going to guess it's a dead end and this guy may be a crack pot. A bit of a teaser for all the conspiracy theorist (like myself). Nothing will ever get revealed as to what caused the world to go to heck in a hand basket.
Marriage is a lot more than a ceremony and a piece of paper. Not only that, but the fact that Glenn referred to Maggie as his wife on the show symbolizes where they are at in their relationship and how much it has grown since season 2.
They also showed Maggie's left hand with a wedding set of rings on.

They didn't use to need that piece of paper before modern times. Just live together and agree you are married and use his last name. That was all you needed. In the ZA those papers are not going to be needed anymore.

You mean they're not legally married. Their marriage is not reognized by law. That is all a marriage certificate represents.... the governments recognition of your marriage. That doesn't mean they aren't married emotionaly to one another.
And like I said, The writers probably had Glenn refer to Maggie as his wife for the benefit of we the audience, to symbolize what stage of their relationship they are at.
Maggie DID go back to the bus calling Beth's name... and the others told her she wasn't on it, that she got off (they may have said to look for Maggie).
I Stand corrected, you are right. Just went back and watched that part. They told Maggie that beth had gone to go and get Judith, so maggie went after her and wouldn't let Glenn go with her, made him stay on the bus.
Of course they're married. The legality of marriage is moot. It's not like Maggie has to worry about visiting Glenn in a hospital or who gets his Social Security benefits later. "Their marriage is not recognized by law"--there is no law. Marriage in that world is just like how it used to be, pledging an oath out loud. I think in Colorado all you have to do is start publicly referring to someone as your wife and she is, according to common law. Maggie and Beth grew up religious, so I wouldn't be surprised if they had a little ceremony at the house with Hershel at some point.

I totally agree.
I'm surprised at the amount of attention this has gotten out on the net. Why would they need a ceremony or a piece of paper in the apocalypse? I guess Rick could do it but they aren't in his county I don't think so he is out of his jurisdiction maybe. Too bad Hershel is dead, he was quite spiritual maybe he was a minister at one time. See how silly that sounds? It also sounds just as silly to say, "She's my girlfriend." Or "she's my fiancé."
Agreed. You try to file your marriage certificate with the county recorder and oops, the county recorder is a zombie who is munching on the people who work at the DMV. Now what? And who's going to issue the darn drivers' licenses?!
do you really think that scientist, (supposidly) has a cure?
I don't think so, just by the way he acted, and what he said,
I think he is another power hungry wannabe leader.
