whatever happened to Blake? That young kid who wanted to be captain sooo bad and finally got the chance. Anyone know?
Blake as far as I know has plenty of work going on there in the Bering Sea. His commitment to another job kept him from being available for Season 4. A boat he was captaining was involved in a life saving rescue operation about that time too. He's still out there, he's just not being featured in the Series.
Of course I'm thrilled to the bone that Captain Phil Harris will at least take part in King Crab Season. Thank Goodness he pulled through his illness.
New season starts tomorrow, April 15. I am told that in the episode where the F/V Cornelia Marie gets boarded by the USCG for an at-sea inspection, if you look real hard, you might see my son. Not sure when that episode wil air, but you can be sure I will be watching.
Very bummed that Phil Harris wasn't able to even go out for King Crab... I knew Murry was at the helm for Opie Season, but thought Phil was in the clear for now.
He needs to get healthier - he's still SMOKING... Jeeze-0-Pete.
Did you notice Phil and other crew member (can't remember from which vessel) reciting the sailor's adage about 'red sky at night, sailor's delight; red sky at morning, sailors take warning?' Things are going to go wrong real soon. BTW, think that was my son's cutter steaming out of Dutch Harbor. I know they were in port about that time last fall. He mentioned meeting some of the TV crews as they were preparing for the new season.
I've got it DVR'd, and I can't wait to watch it! It seems like FOREVER since the last season aired. Such an interesting window into the absolutely mad world of crab fishing. I certainly couldn't do what they do, but I really enjoy watching them do it!
I also was disappointed about Phil and the Cornelia Maria. Sounds like next week one of the ships goes down. The end of last week episodes they rebroadcast Coast Gaurd Communications reporting activation of one of the boat's EPUR device that activates when it gets dislodged and falls into the ocean.
Something is also going to happen on the Time Bandit. They we're on the crab too early - I know the Captain is skilled but it appears to be one of those cruel ironies the producers are so good at finding in this series.
Finally, did you notice the new rain gear on the Northwestern? On the back of the gear it says "SHUT UP AND FISH."
