We said the same thing last night. I thought Jillian was out of the series after they locked her up in the ward. I can't understand what bringing her back adds to the show. Considering it's the last season, I have no idea how she ties into the storyline again. Other than the Lucky vs Luciano/Lansky, I do like the flashbacks because I think it really shows how Nucky became to be the person he was.
I actually don't mind the flashbacks. I'm also surprise that Jillian is in this season. I am happy that Dr. Narcisse will appear again this season.
Jillian is one of my favorite characters. I loved Jimmy s wife and Jimmy (I cannot say it enough! )
Im still liking the flashbacks, but I was unusually bored w last night. Which makes me very sad because I know there is only 5 left and one or more I'll have to suffer through Dr. Narcissus subplot which I think brought the whole series down.
I can't believe all this hating on Jillian! Her character is fascinating and she's the only real female left. Way too much testosterone last season.

I really like the flashbacks. I noticed they did the same with True Blood--gives the viewers an opportunity to see how characters became the way they did. I just don't understand the point in brining back Jillian. I'd love to know how Harrow's wife and Jimmy's son moved on.
I have to go back and watch the last few episodes from last season. Did the singer rat out Chalky?
Well after the long wait and looking forward to the new (and last) season, I just finished watching S5E1. Boring and slow. I sure hope it gets better soon!

I don't think so...after his daughter was (accidentally) shot & killed, he seemed to be devestated enough to leave his wife & son and move to that country house where his mentor lived. I could be wrong, but don't think we're supposed to know what happened to him in between seasons.

ok .. whew! I thought I missed something. I was wondering why Chalky was in prison.
Another disappointing episode. Jumping from storyline to storyline isn't helping. Now we know 6 years have passed since season 4's events with very little explanation of what happened during that span. After watching the short explanatory segment at the end of the show, some of it became clear. But you really shouldn't have to rely on the writer's explanation after a show in order to make sense of it.
I do like the bland contrast of the late 1880s to 1931 (I think that's what yr it is.)
Bright colors make me happy.
