I loved James tonight (actually, every night!) and was interested to hear that the contestants are the ones who dream up the special effects, as I had wondered about this after the "fabulous, firey piano", lol. I could imagine him onstage in his own show (concert) already, and this is one I'd like to see. I enjoyed Adam Lambert very much, and thought him very talented, but think James is as good or better. I wish them both well!

It does seem like any one of them could win, doesn't it? That's one reason I only voted for one tonight, instead of several. it's becoming more important each week, I think, to vote for your favorite. As much as I like several of them, James is definitely my favorite.

This will sound incredibly dumb, but how did folks know about his Asperger's etc., that he is married etc? I've tried going on the AmericanIdol site, but couldn't find much besides very brief bios. Do you check on-line by googling their names? Guess I'll try that! I'm not very skilled on the computer, obviously!

Oh, I can't wait to hear David Cook tommorrow night!!!!!! (like Katy Perry, too).

Hey, Jill, I usually agree with you, but must defend my favorite.......yes, James does do a lot of "screaming" (hard rock seems to demand it), but remember when he did "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"? I'd like to hope he's more talented than just a screamer. (because I wouldn't enjoy THAT, either! lol) I do think he has a fine voice when he allows us to hear it, and obviously great showmanship, IMHO.

I like so many of the contestants this year, and there is a wonderful variety of genre (sp??). Always look forward to the show.

Hey---didn't Steven get a little more air time tonight? Now why did he have to go and ruin it with the "inappropriate language"? ('course I'd love to know what was said.....) I'm enjoying this panel of judges more than any other. Simon was intriguing, but never liked his super-critical attitude or mean way of putting things. But guess that's tv, and it's all about the ratings.

Off topic a bit, but does anyone plan to watch X-Factor? Not sure if I will. kind of bugs me that Simon defected from Idol to bring his own show over. nothing wrong with that except, to me, it comes across as haughty and superior-minded. Maybe I'm wrong........

He told about these things himself in an interview he did, that they aired before his very first audition. You can watch it here:

Evidently a lot of the audience, contestants and judges can't handle the truth. Simon was simply honest as honest can be. That gave the show integrity it's badly missing now.
Praise the powers that be that he will be back on the airwaves soon with his new show Over on the idol site they are really yakking it up about the unfairness of the voting and how the judges are all over the place and influencing the voters. They also mentioned how in the fine print on the shows credits, the producers can override the votes as they see fit.

This isn't the first time this has happened as you mentioned earlier BJH.

The whole show kinda bombed for me tonight besides the fact Steven had lots of airtime for those who 'thought' he was bored!

I was at an Obama fundraiser tonite in SF so I didnt get to watch the episode however I just got back from the City and Im watching the performances on youtube right now-LOL

James Durbin totally stole the show tonight. He is quite the performer and his voice is so powerful. I felt like I was watching his concert. Really, that one blew me away.

Casey was also very entertaining. I like his weird coolness a lot and his voice is very intense.

Lauren was also good tonight. She is going to be a star one day.

Jacob picked a very beautiful Luther Vandross song that I love. I loved the ending-during the song however the instrumentation seemed to overpower him and the song is a bit quieter than that. I'll give him 6 out of 10 stars.

Scotty to me was very entertaining tonight. Usually by now Id be bored of someone singing the exact same style every week, but I like Scotty's countryNESS. LOL.

Haley was also really entertaining-I think she's the most consistently improved and really is resilient. A major improvement over last week imo.

Stefano sings specifically to one demographic. Girls. LOL. I wasnt feeling his song choice and it felt a little too busy for me-but its not me he was singing to.

My favorites were:
1 James
2 Casey
3 Lauren

My least favorites were:
1 Stefano
2 Jacob
3 Haley

I give Scotty a pass this week, not in the Top 3 or Bottom 3-just in the middle.

I'm not sure what his new show is, but Simon is sorely missed from Idol.

I didn't know the producers could do that. What's the point then?

Maybe they are like J-Lo, unable to control their bias.

Thanks for the link. I'll post this thought again, this young man is overcoming some very real very visible disabilities and he's doing it right in front of us. While some might not like his hard rock there is no denying he is very talented. Not to long ago James would have been locked away because of his disabilities and I'm greatful to see this day, when a young person, with aspergers AND tourettes can not be their disabilities but their talent.
