Whoa - that opening with the four kids just hurt my ears. I muted it. I don't think I've ever heard Soul Sister that bad.
Good thing I also have the Tulsa Drillers game online .

Is he stuck listening to all his parents' cassette tapes? Does he not listen to current country radio?
Could Scotty not try to sing something by, oh, let's say:
Tim McGraw
Keith Urban
Brad Paisley
Kenny Chesney
Rascal Flatts
Phil Vassar
Garth Brooks
Toby Keith
Lady Antebellum
Scotty is what, 17? He acts like he's 54. Dang. Somebody buy that boy an Ipod and load it up with "Now That's What I Call Country Music volume 61" or something.

But if he chose "Swingin'" It's because it was on the list....
Remember, they can't just randomly choose any song, they have to choose a song that AI has agreed to pay for if they choose it.
IMHO - if they put a song on a list - they don't get to criticize them for picking an "old" song. They still have to be smart about picking a good song for their own voice and range, however. I can think of tons of songs that Scotty would be good at. Anybody know how to find out what's on the lists?

Ugh. It was only I think 3 summers ago now (maybe 2?) that we went to Warped Tour and she was on the tiny side stage as we were walking out. How in the world she is where she is now is beyond me. She was so horrible that we stood there for a minute and moved on.

Every performance except for Stefano's exit song was truly painful to listen to. Stefano rocked his swan song. Good for him! Anyone know yet what next week's theme will be?

Jill,
Thanks so much for the videos you posted! Enjoyed them. I have the "Tapestry" album, but haven't listened to it in a while.
Could definitely imagine Haley doing one of the 2 you suggested, but think she may go for "I Feel the Earth Move" rather than "Jazzman"------just sounded more like her to me, for some reason.
"Hi-De-Ho" seems like it could work for several of them, depending on what they did with it.
I think her songs are so good.....really looking forward to the next show! But I know I'll miss Stephano--I really liked that kid and his personality. There's a couple others I would miss seeing less, but won't say who, as hate to run any of them down in any way. Guess I'm just a big ole' softy! lol
Are you a professional in the industry? (if I may ask....?) You seem to have a lot of knowledge at your fingertips and insightful comments.

Pia tried out for 2 other seasons and didn't make it into the top. There seems to be something all hay wire with who the show thinks will succeed. Different theories on that batted about as well.
I voted for my boy for nearly 2 hours straight for the first time ever, so we shall see how it all turns out......

Back atcha, Jennifer Hudson is another great example!
Just goes to show the people have to decide. These judges and producers get to a point where they think they know better than the public. But they're too close to see clearly. And they have to think of the politics of not ticking off colleagues.
Who is your boy, Scotty?
I voted for him BECAUSE the judges dissed him. I do wish he'd figure out how to hold the microphone, though.

Jill, thanks for posting Carole King videos as I don't know who she is.
Stefano leaving was no big surprise - and he left with a smile. I felt for James, though. He looked so miserable!
