It is hard to imagine Jacob had more supporters than Casey. Who is voting for Jacob? Is it the African American vote? Are there that many people who like gospel styled high octave singing?
I said before that Casey can't win because his preference for Jazz just won't work for Idol voters. But he is amazingly talented as a singer, musician, and performer. I think he has the potential to energize the jazz market like no one in recent history.
I think James is the clear favorite and can be beaten only by Lauren or Scotty. And of those two, Lauren is probably more talented because she is more effective when not singing country. But one of those two could beat James because when one of the country kids loses, their voters could be stronger than James' fans.
Haley is nowhere near good enough to be a success after the show. Her singing is erratic, she isn't awesome looking, and I still don't know what kind of music she really likes.
James continues to impress me. I'm not a metal fan and would not buy any of his music if it were metal. I was shocked how good he was on a Carole King song.
I prefer Jazz anyday to the Gospel crud. Casey has more talent, more character than Jacob will ever have, yet there is Jacob, who of course is not even close to being a Pop singer or Rock Star.
Well my favorite is gone. I was hoping that it would be Scotty but I kinda knew that Casey was going home. At any rate, Casey will be fine and I will still get his album.
I'm hoping to see Jacob or Scotty go home next.

Sure hope James can pull it out to the end, but I was telling my husband the other night I wouldn't be surprised to see a female win it, the last female to win was Jordan Sparks, so it is probably time for a female to take the title, not that I think either Haley or Lauren should win it but then again I didn't think Jacob should have stayed over Casey.
I agree with Casey being too sophisticated for those who don't "get" jazz and blues....... "Casey, while being light years above Hayley in talent is not mainstream Idol material, his music and style are way too sophisticated..."""

Agree! Why Haley is still there and so clearly out of her league is a mystery.... AND she growls more than Casey ever did!
^that is raw god given vocal talent!! Listen carefully at the end of the clip Mel B says the contest/AI is fixedand that Stefano should still be there
Casey was voted out weeks ago Too bad the producers have chosen to allow the show to become the farce it is!
Stefano may be a good singer, but he was nowhere near the best on that show.
I listened... and it was good, but not great.
On the other hand, I was listening to a radio show this morning that I think made a good point. They didn't think Casey wanted to win AI, he was using it as a stepping stone to get himself exposure. He's too talented and too much of an individual to be successful with what American Idol does.

I was going to post the same. Both Casey and Paul got what they wanted from AI.
So based on last night's vote off is it safe to say that Scotty wins this thing since he has the most female fans, i.e. the voters, that are mainly voting based on looks...

Although Casey was my pick, it doesn't surprise me in the least that the majority of voters would not be on the same page as me on that. I would be fine with James, Scotty, or Haley winning the whole deal.
I like James, because he has a range, even if his primary genre isn't my favorite. Having gotten to hear him going a big softer, now, I'm more impressed with him than I previously was. I also work with students who have both of his neurological disorders, and his level of poise and confidence are inspiring, all things considered, moreso than the average contestant. I think Haley's got a great voice, a neat sound (I don't mind growliness), and makes interesting choices, not just boring, schlocky pop. Scotty has a WONDERFUL vocal tone, and although I'm so-so on contemporary country, I'd rather hear him on the radio than half the country artists with contracts today.
Lauren is the opposite of Scotty, to me...I don't find her voice that interesting, and to me, she sounds like the majority of what's on contemporary country radio, which I find very homogenous, especially for women. Jacob has a powerful instrument in his voice, but it strikes me that he hasn't a clue what to do with it, other than belt and hope for the best. I actually DO love gospel, but he's not half the gospel singer he thinks he is. He also seems generally awkward and ill-at-ease, which makes him not fun to watch perform.
I have always thought it was fixed. And really Scotty? the best looking? EWWWWW. James has it in the looks department. I mean he's no Stefano, but out of all the guys, he is the best looking...IMO. If james doesn't win this thing with the talent he has, it is so fixed. And adam Lambert should have won, but I don't think they wanted a gay Idol. People are moron. Kara was on something and she said it was fixed as well. She wrote a book or something and it was in there.
That was a big mistake last night. it is VERY obvious to everyone now that the producers are choosing. There is no way Jacob got more votes than Casey. The judges even looked shocked. They must not be in on it, or they are just good actors.
