I said I wasn't going to watch but of course I ended up watching it anyhow.
Loved Steven Tyler. He wasn't ingratiating like some of the other celebrity judges I've seen over the years. JLO was ok, although she was a bit like Paula Abdul in not wanting to offend people.
I'm not missing Simon either but that's because Steven Tyler is on the show. If he wasn't then I'm not sure I would even watch.
Overall I was pleasantly surprised.

I agree. - I haven't really watched much for years. Steven's fellow bandmates were pretty upset he took the AI gig and gossiped that he was back on drugs. Per his TV Guide interview this week "Talk This Way" he did spend a 3 month stint at the Betty Ford Center for pain killer addiction in 2010. He has a book coming out set for release later in 2011 titled "Does the Noise in My Head Bother You"

Only thing is, the Show had to "bleep" some of what Tyler was saying. Can just about imagination what he was saying that got bleeped out. Guess he can have a mouth like Ozzy Osborne does. I guess they are so use to using that kind of language, they just can't stop it no matter where they are. Tyler still makes for a good judge though! Will be watching tonight again.
By the way, this Show just isn't for the young generation.......wife and I are in our early 60's! Last years final show was terrific with all those Classic Rock performers onstage with the Idols......very, very cool!

Steven Tyler will be his usual "REAL" self which will be great for the show. Although I was alittle surprised that he said "YES" to a few people last night. Steve, don't ask Randy...you know who's got pipes and who don't! That one girl who BEGGED to get put through....PLEASE!.. What were they thinking??? IMO she will be gone the first week in Hollywood.

The ONLY reason I am watching is becuase of Steven Tyler. I have never watched it much before. Only caught a few episodes here and there when Bo Bice was on and he got robbed . Steven and JLo are great judges. At least they know talent and know the industry very well from two different genres Rock and Pop. It was great, very funny and entertaining. Can't wait for tonight. Steven's a rock star so of course the f-bomb will fly. Who cares.

LOL - Steven Tyler is in his early 60's (62). I think all the judges have been bleeped out over the years and many of the contestants as well.

I rarely if ever watch the show, but caught a peek last night; always had a crush on Steven, but that wasn't enough to get me to tune in on purpose. But as I was surfing channels, I couldn't help myself when I saw what was coming up on the show, I just had to sit tight. You know, the show is just like a train wreck, you can't turn away.
Someone, earlier in this thread said the show was absent of the usual freaks, um, we must not have been watching the same show. It wouldn't be Idol without them, nor would it be worth pausing on while I'm surfing if not for the crazies. The auditions are most enjoyable, though occasionally, sad times to watch.

I'm probably in the minority missing Simon, but I do like the new judges. Steve's plastic surgery wasn't the best. His face looks sculpted. There were a couple lastnight that weren't too bad and others that passed through out of sympathy. Lopez is going to have to get tougher
