I just love watching this reality show on BBC America and I don't care for too many reality shows. Ramsay is both helpful/sensitive while also being rude/blunt......he's a "joy" to watch.

Initially he appears to simply be criticizing the restaurants but he has a method to his madness and IMO is honestly trying to help the restaurants succeed.

It is amazing the filth and insects etcetera some of these restaurants tolerate and the crappy food some of them serve to their customers without a care.

Gordon Ramsay usually gets them to clean up their restaurants as well as their acts.....so that they become profitable as well as serving quality food that the restaurants can be proud of and the customers can enjoy.

However the best part of the show is often Ramsay just telling off some of the arrogant/obnoxious restauranteurs as well as the clueless ones; there are plenty of both categories on this show.

Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares - Channel 4

Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares - BBC America

Here is one episode from the series>>>>>

Anyone else watch the show and/or have any additional comments?????.

I used to watch KN on Fox (I think), but have never seen it on BBC. I don't watch it anymore because I don't know when it is on! But I do watch Hell's Kitchen, and I really dig GR!

I have seen all the Kitchen Nightmare episodes. I will NEVER eat in a "mom and pop" resturant again. I will stick to the chain food places where there are cleanliness standards.

Default Yes!

This is the show I was talking about in another thread. If anyone recalls that thread, I was actually referring to this show, not the "Hells Kitchen" series. I was in Australia watching this for a week, or so, it was entertaining to me... he tells it like it is, uncensored, and gets these people's business back on track.

For those who have not seen it, the best way to compare it is to think of Gordon as a man who bluntly tells his wife she is fat, and needs to diet. Yeah, imagine that shock!

I hear ya....I too am reluctant to eat out after seeing some of the horrors....especially in the higher priced restaurants where cleanliness sometimes seemed even more an issue than more "plain" venues..

Way back before there were any of the GR shows on TV, our local Los Angeles channels used to do these undercover exposes (sorry - don't know how to make those little punctuation thingies over letters) on local restaurants that failed health inspections. They used to show the stuff GR shows - roaches and rats, old, nasty, unsanitary food items, people dropping food on the floor, etc. But - they also used to show some of the workers exiting the restrooms without washing their hands, workers spitting in the food of customers who p*ssed them off, and doing other nasty things to the food. That used to scare the crap out of me!

When I watched KN, all those lovely feelings came flooding back!

Sometimes I wish I had never seen some of those things! LOL

Sounds very similar to Gordon Ramsay and I agree..... it makes me reluctant to eat out after seeing how disrespectful and horrific some restaurants can be; as well as over charging for frozen pizza sold as "homemade" etc.....but overall I enjoy watching him try to help improve and turn these establishments around in the right direction.

We're thoroughly hooked -- but I'd never in a million years eat at one of these restaurants. I'd be afraid of getting food poisoning, because I doubt very much they actually retain the standards Gordon imposed.
