this episode should have been titled, "cut off your nose to spite your face."

i was really disappointed with the purple tribe last night. NEVER throw a challenge. Rule #1 in survivor. When has throwing a challenge EVER worked out? If you want to vote out Russell, fine, but don't throw a challenge to do it. I loved Stephanie's rant. Every word she said was dead on, although she probably should have shut up sooner. The six-pack is weak, we have seen much stronger six packs.

The purple team has gotten cocky at such an early time. I never understand why people play so dumb. First off, you never purposely give up numbers to the other tribe. Second off, you have a solid 6 with a idol... why would you take off one of your strongest teammates instead of one of his "harem" girls... Nobody trusts Russell. Everyone has seen his play so there was no way he was getting to end anyways this season since he would NEVER have the numbers. Even if he wins out on Redemption Island, he will still be sent home a week or two after returning to most likely the merge tribe. This move will be the downfall of the purple team.

At tribal council, Stephanie came across like a brainwashed cult member.

The tribe made the right choice in parting ways with Russell. His seed need not blossom, and it could have had he remained in camp. After two challenge wins I'm sure they saw that Russell was no challenge master that needed to be kept around, they saw only a selfish man developing a cult like alliance. Besides, what did the lose? A lounge chair or two?

This decision was made by the alliance without the knowledge of Ralph's HII. The decision was strong and final. Russell was going off to RI. It was a calculated and smart decision that really does not give that much away. By that I mean it didn't make Rob's tribe any stronger and maybe gave them false hope instead.

Purple is still strong and they ridded-off the one bad seed.

I believed her, too! I just sat there thinking, "Oh *****! Don' do it." And then she didn't! I've never been so glad to see someone voted off in my life. I'm not going to totally celebrate until he loses the RI duel, though.

Word. I was thinking: "So, in what part of Stockholm did you catch the syndrome?"

I usually agree with this philosophy, but it sure seems to have worked out last night!

They were probably right to force the issue because sometimes in this game, timing is everything. Leave a snake like Russell in the game too long and he has a way of weaseling his way into your alliance-members, weakening your numbers. He has proven capable of doing this time and time again. His first stint on the show, his tribe went into the merge with, like 3 people to 7 from the other tribe, and yet those 3 were able to pick off the 7 one by one because of Russell's mind games and manipulation. He is absolutely not to be trusted for 5 minutes, and the sooner you can get rid of his influence, the better, even if it means forcing tribal council to happen earlier than it might have.

No one knows Ralph has the idol. He's the smartest idol-finder in the history of the show. I've never seen it work to anyone's benefit to out themselves as being in possession of it.

And as I said above, you take out "Ressell" (LOL) because his mind game is utterly dangerous. The twits have proven to be nothing but hangers-on. They're no mental threat. They go next, but it's easier to wait until they legitimately lose a challenge because they can't do any mental damage to the tribe.

I absolutely agree there are times when you should throw a challenge, and last night was the perfect time. I've never seen a better-executed power move on this show than I did last night. Russell needed to know that he was NOT in control of the game, and that the other players know how to play the game every bit as well as he does.

Can you imagine the reaction Rob has when he finds out they took out Russell?

in 20+ seasons of the show, throwing a challenge has never worked out. this tribe is a time bomb. and had the alliance known ralph had the idol, they wouldn't have had to split the votes, leaving themselves open to one of their own going home. i'd call ralph lucky, not smart. i am also horribly uncharmed by him. he isn't the charming dumb, just the dumb dumb.

in any case, time will tell if this was a good move. but it looks in every way like a dumb short-term knee-jerk play.
