Have been attempting to get some 'culture' by watching the battle of the 5 'nutcracker' productions on the 'ovation' channel. Best production voted by viewers was the Royal [London] production. Didn't like the 'circus' interpetation of the classic. I thought second best was the Berlin and third was the Bolshoi. All 5 being shown today as a marathon [2.5 hours each]
The sound of the classical music played thru surround sound is something to be heard. Lots of familiar tunes. Tried to record the Royal version on DVD. Got a copyright block. Don't know what they are concerned about with the 'ovation' logo, the annoying pop up ads and commercials.
Sounds like something my Mother would like. Have no idea whether she gets that channel on her limited DISH package tho or whether it repeats. Could it be on Netflix?
The only one I remember is the old one with Barishnikov.
