Default Anyone been to or attended a Game Show or Talk Show ?

Hi,

I was just watching the View and they just gave everyone in the audience round trip tickets in the usa and think wow that might be worth of being bored in the audience for lol.

I once went to a taping of Jeopardy and our door prize was a hamilton blender but nothing like they are doing today.

I was curious if anyone been part of audience and walk away with a prize and what was the prize also if you ever on a game show and what did you win if anything.

Oprah still has everyone beat in my opinion "and you get a car, and you get a car, and you get a car, and you get a car, "

I used to work with a guy whose son and daughter-in-law were on the Jerry Springer show. It wasn't exactly a point of pride for him.

One of the ladies with whom I work...her mom was on The Price is Right a couple of years ago.

I went to school with a guy who was on the Ricky Lake show. He was cheating on a girlfriend or some nonsense like that. Oh also, the Jerry Springer show had a 'very special' episode in my town. The local chapter of the skinheads (LOL) had been protesting more than usual so somehow it made local, then national news and then Jerry Springer had a show about it. (I'm still looking for the tape on youtube or something).

Back to the topic- I've never been on a show but would LOVE to go. I tried out for Wheel Of Fortune, filled out paperwork and had my info taken but no one called me back.

I can't stop laughing! Afterall, wasn't his closing line "and remember kids, always keep laughing!"?

We had a local kid's show called "Uncle Gus" and most of my friends were on at one time or another, except for me. (sniff)

I also have a friend who was at the Letterman show when Warren Zevon gave his last performance. Would love to have traded places with her...

Me...nothing to report here.

I went to Letterman around nine years ago (I never realized til just now it was that long ago! WOW!) and sat in the audience if that counts. Although we had tickets, you have to show up really early for whatever reason and stand outside for a long time prior to getting in. I remember the theatre seemed so much smaller than it is on TV. I also remember that it was not as cold as I thought it would be, seeing as how Letterman has a reputation of keeping a very chilly studio. The guests were Samuel L. Jackson, the girl Jenni who if anyone remembers Jenni-cam, she was basically the first person to put up a 24/7 webcam in her apartment and it caused a stir for a blip in time considering the novelty of such a thing in 1998. Then the Smashing Pumpkins (who at the time were really big) were the musical guest and they performed outside and the studio audience was led outside to the front of the stage during the commercial break, and the band then put on a free show for everyone for awhile, but I left during the second or third song because I don't like them.

The whole thing was a cool experience. I was surprised by just how quickly it was done though. I can't remember exactly but I'd swear we were waiting in line for a good 2-3 hours before the show, so it felt like the actual taping was just over in a flash compared to how long we had been waiting.

I met a guy once who won a boat on The Price Is Right. He had to pay a hefty amount in taxes for the boat and wound up selling it either way. He almost advanced to the final showcase but another woman wound up winning something like $10,000 after hitting the $1 on the wheel a few times so he got booted.

A friend of mine's husband appeared on Who Wants To Be a Millionnaire and won a smallish amount (I think $1,000).

My grandma really wants me to go on Jeopardy. I'm afraid I'd be made a fool of on national television though.

Many years ago I used to live in southern California and now and then my mom and I would go see a game show etc. We saw Tattletales a number of times and you won money depending on what the star won for his/her section. We saw a number of starts at that including Cheryl Ladd. We saw an old gameshow called Treasure Hunt, saw the filming of Rosanne, and a few others.

I've been in the audience for Family Feud (back when Ray Combs was the host), and a short-lived show called "21", which was hosted by Maury Povich. They were both really fun, but I didn't get any gifts or prizes! Oh, but my Uncle was a contestant on Jeopardy about 15 years ago... he came in 3rd place, and got a reclining chair for his effort. And I was actually a panelist on a talk show in the '80s, called "Anne & Ross in the Afternoon" - it was a local show (but aired around the West coast), and was hosted by a guy who now does the nightly news in SF. The topic was "teenagers under pressure", and my sister & I talked about our experiences as figure skaters.
