I am watching this show for only the second time. Someone famous traces their family history with the help of A LOT of professional genealogists. I watched the Lisa Kudrow episode and am in the middle of the Tim McGraw episode. WOW! Such an interesting show, seeing someone's family history unfold.
Anyone watch this show? Any especially good episodes that I should try to find?

Go to youtube and watch the british ones. Jerry Springer's comes to mind along with Steven Fry. For the american one, Emitt Smith and Matthew Broderick, Susan Sarandon and Spike Lee were good. SJP and Brroke Sheilds were OK
I like it. I worked on my family...WITHOUT any pros and without being able to fly everywhere I needed to go. The show is good. Too bad only celebrities get to do that, however.
I saw a PBS series that was similar where they traced Yo-Yo Ma's ancestry back to like the Ming Dynasty. I'm really into Chinese stuff so I liked that.
Of the NBC one I saw Sarah Jessica Parker and Meryl Streep I think. It was kind of interesting. Not something I've went out of my way to see, but I'd likely watch it if nothing better is on.

Most viewers probably wouldn't be very interested if they were tracing the lines of ordinary people. The closest to that was one called "So You Think You're Royal?" in the UK which researched the trees of ordinary families claiming a royal heritage. But I don't think it's still running - I catch reruns now and then.

Just did a search to see if we had a post on it last year but nothing came up.
I'm not a fan of Rosie but did watch her episode & thought it was good. We saw a side of her that I've never seen before. The story about her great grand fathers 1st wife was really sad; especially the newspaper clipping where she was in agony for 20 days from the fire.
I've seen every episode; some from last year were hard to watch. Not sure if it was Emmit or Spike. Too bad they are not available on the NBC site; just the highlights. I don't doubt they'll rerun season 1 this year.
Thank you, tamiznlove, for the link. My local tv guide comes with the Saturday paper and I noticed it listed but not anything about it. I'll give it a try.....I have always liked Cindy Crawford's look, so that will be interesting to me. I have caught a couple of tv previews and thought I saw Stephanie March with her trademark hair and black framed glasses. She was not on the list though so either I am mistaking someone else for her or she is one of the two not yet announced.

I LOVE this show. I have seen every episode and the only one who didn't seem touched/moved/awed by their family history was Helen Hunt. Otherwise, every celebrity tracing their family tree is so overwhelmed (in a good way) by the discoveries they make. You can't help but be swept up by their excitement. I'm so looking forward to this new season! I think they got a great group of people.
