If you enjoyed the Tudors you will like this. They are know as the first crime family. Jeromy Irons plays the pope and there's a lot of evil doings going on.

I saw some of the preview for this on DirecTV's 101 channel and it did, indeed, look very good. Unfortunately, I don't get Showtime, so I'll have to wait until it migrates to another channel. I finally saw a season's worth of The Tudors on BBC America (sans the nudity). I really enjoyed that and hope they post more episodes soon. I agree with you that someone who liked The Tudors would also enjoy The Borgias. Jeremy Irons ... what's not to like?

Incredible, amazing series.
It has been quite a while since something with such quality has been made.
The Tudors is very, very good, but imo it does not hold a candle to The Borgias.

This is my favorite tv series. Jeremy Irons plays the part just perfectly, believing in the trappings of his religion while remaining ruthless and avaricious.

I have had little interest in history in the past, but because of the intrigue and complexity of the characters I have ordered three books from Amazon (thank goodness for those reviews) covering characters in the Italian Renaissance. I chose books that are supposed to have good readability, but are not novels.

I still think of the excommunication scene juxtaposed on Fra Savannah Rolla's attempt at walking through fire (he thinks he can do this unharmed because he is protected by God) was just magnificent.

Each of the characters are played just wonderfully. They are full. You understand their motivation and the pressures on them. This is more than just good guys vs. bad guys, though there is that aspect, as well. I understand that we do not really know if Cesare killed his brother, but this production gives reasons why such a thing might have been done.

I cannot wait until the next season.

All the seasons were available on Netflix. I don't know if they still are, but I watched the whole series from beginning to end. It was wonderful the whole way through with lots of twists and turns.

Same here. I look forward to them getting additional seasons.
Netflix has me spoiled. I don't think I could wait a week between episodes
of great shows any longer.

Agreed. I usually wait until the end of the season with some shows (this is one) and watch a marathon. It is easier to keep track of everything. Great season!!!
