The History Channel is showing Vietnam in HD over the next few days. Watched the first episode last night, very well done.

The Vietnam War. But done with interviews of soldiers that were there, like Band of Brothers sort of. And actual footage and home movies upscaled to HD.

Even after all these years I still have a difficult time dealing with that war. I lost a lot of friends over there. And yet, The Deer Hunter is one of my favorite movies and China Beach was just so great. How odd is that?

I'll try to tune in and see at least one episode. Thanks for the heads-up.

Thanks Jim, I'm watching a couple episodes now - I hope they'll run it for several weeks so I can catch it all - it's a lot to take in all in one go. This first episode is well done - they're doing a good job sorting through and documenting some background and early turning points before Johnson upped the draft. These soldiers and the reporter are sharing so much and so personally - it's heart wrenching.

This is a great series. I'm enjoying it and learning so much as this conflict happened just before I was born. Very real and well done.

Thanks for the heads up, Jim. Like Ketabcha, I lost friends, both physically and mentally, over there. I'll watch the shows online via HULU if I cant catch them in repeats.

I graduated high school in 1969, and remained 1A throughout the draft. Was never called. I too lost friends to that stupid war. This series explains it more than anything I've seen. The sacrifice, the stupidity, the politics. I knew how those soldiers were treated when they came home, but hearing it from their view, so very sad.

Great series in HD. I was just shy of 18 when the draft ended.
With this and movies like PLATOON you get a sense of what the war was like.
Well done.

I don't think I will be able to watch it. Even after all these years.
