Does anyone have recommendations for good travel shows similar to Rick Steves' Europe? (Doesn't have to be about Europe.) I prefer a series with greater emphasis on the local sights AND cuisines..

Rudy Maxa's shows are similar to Rick Steves.

I like No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain and Take Off with Ashley Colburn.

I don't have any favorite - but I personally wish they stopped talking about food in each and every show and only focused on other cultural aspects!!

I have to agree with others Rudy Maxa or Samantha Brown.

Although, I personally adore Rick Steves shows because he really focuses on the cultural identity of a region as well as the history.

I don't think it's on tv any more, but my favorite was the Lonely Planet series aka Globe Trekker, with Ian Wright and Justine Shapiro. Looks like it is available thru Amazon instant watch and on dvd.

PBS (at least in LA) does still run the Globe Trekker episodes, which I absolutely love.

All the travel shows are great on PBS, especially Rick Steves, Rudy Maxa and the Globe Trekker. I don't recall any others regularly being shown on PBS like those mentioned. Sometimes a one time special makes it on the air.
