All Time? I see by your list that you haven't been around long enough to establish a good basis of comparison.

1. The Andy Griffith Show
2. The FBI
3. The Carol Burnett Show
4. The Ed Sullivan Show
5. The Tonight Show (with Johnny Carson)

I pretty much agree with 20yrs' list -- except that I think I LOVE LUCY belongs there.

Whether you like the show or not, it was groundbreaking for many reasons. Many stores and other businesses closed early on the night it was televised, with signs in their windows saying WE LOVE LUCY TOO.

1.) McGyver
2.) Law and Order
3.) CHiPs
4.) Grey's Anatomy
5.) Family Guy

To make this a real thread, you gotta break this down by decade. For real.

Smile Of All Time - well....

Some of these shows I don't like or I did not watch but....

1. I Love Lucy (this was groundbreaking in so many ways! My daughter also loved watching this when she was growing up).

2. Archie Bunker (was that the name? I did not like this show but again, it was groundbreaking for its time and made people think).

3. St. Elsewhere

4. Friends (one of my favorites; my daughter's also) and 30 Something (my generation - did I write it? Haha)

5. 60 Minutes - it started this type of show (I think)

There are so many more. Game shows, variety shows, etc.

I know think anyone will look back on the reality shows in 50 years and think of them as good TV.

Some of the better shows today:
Pan Am, Modern Family, The Good Wife, Mad Men, Dexter - I know there are others - I don't watch tons of TV

I'd add....The Mary Tyler Moore Show....M*A*S*H; The Cosby Show

The "Archie Bunker Show" was actually "All in the Family".....
