I liked Piers. I hope Stern will not turn the show into something more absurd than it already is. I don't think the man is particularly honest, just a very old guy with shtick who's trying to make a buck.

You sound like someone who has never spent the time to actually listen to Howard. He's doing very well on Sirius / XM and in fact the company (Sirius / XM) as a whole is doing better because of Howard. If he left you'd see that entire company fold because the subscriptions will go down. If you want to see how "well" Piers is doing, tune into the most BORING show on CNN which he hosts, in fact Piers had to create drama with Howard Stern in order to get people to tune in to his show. Howard is the most successful broadcaster on the radio, ever. He's successful because of his honesty which he will bring to AGT. Watch their ratings go up because of him.

I used to listen to Stern (sometimes) on the radio when I was very young and his persona was semi shocking to me. But it started to be predictable and boring. His is a very limited audience of people of limited experience I think.
I'm not saying that he does not have a place, or an audience, but I don't particularly care for him. I can only take his commentaries in small doses. He really is a one show pony, in my opinion.
I grew up. He did not.

My bet is that you and many, many others will change your tune after you see him on AGT. I don't expect you to ever openly admit it, if you do...but chances are you (and many others) will be pleasantly surprised at his total persona.

Howard isn't doing well on Sirius, he's doing well by Sirius standards since they started off at basically nothing and he keeps them afloat but they've been making all kinds of cutbacks because they're bleeding $ under the weight of Howard's huge contract. Did you know Robin actually makes $10 million a year for what she does? That's what was behind that recent lawsuit where they're welching out on paying Howard the bonus he's owed and he had to sue them, they're so bankrupt they're screwing their talent.
Howard's show has also gone downhill. It's not as funny as it was with Jackie or Artie, it's basically Howard bitterly bloviating and Robin laughing and agreeing or Howard discussing reality TV with Eric the Midget. I had Sirius for a time just for Stern and I commute by car but I cancelled my subscription after Artie left and haven't looked back. That company will be filing Chapter 11 during Howard's current contract there, mark my words.

Like him or not, your LYING when you say you wont watch.
If nothing more than the first few episodes just to see.
YOUR GONNA WATCH.
I'm not going to watch. Why would I lie about it? Who would care?

I will watch - when and if it does not interfere with anything else.
I don't hate Stern, just find his radio personality suitable for a younger crowd. I found a lot of his humor just boring. Been there, done that.
The guy makes $76million a year from radio? I wonder what his tv contract is?
He is in his 50's. I thought he was much older than that. Maybe it is the wigs and the wrinkles.
I cannot image how I would lead a life with that kind of money. He must be doing something right.

I prefer Opie and Anthony to Stern. I've had Sirius/XM since it came out and they have seriously gone downhill. Once I get back to the big city, I'll be canceling and opting for Pandora and iHeart radio.

Howard is brilliant, and would not be half the legend he is if everyone understood him and got the joke. He's the only person that would ever get me to watch a cheesy network competition show like this. Should be interesting.

There has never been a public figure who has demeaned women more than Stern. How any woman could support any show or other event Stern is involved with is beyond me. Of course there are always those that like being insulted, taunted, and ridiculed. As one moderator said, she (I assume female from the name), she will be watching and the rest of us will be watching too. WRONG! To support Stern is the same as supporting your local prev, rapist, pedophile, or other deviate. Secondly, what qualifies Stern, a no-talent, loudmouth, sensationalist to judge a talent show? Maybe American's Got Talent is going to add strippers, cross-dressers, and a topless performers. What other purpose could Stern serve?

I am a HUGE Stern fan and cannot wait to see the show. I have not watched much of this in the past. His honesty, quick wit and overall personality will be refreshing to see. I am exicted to see if the viewers give him a chance to see how awesome he is and not go into it with the pre conceived "Shock Jock" persona that many have.
|
Problem with Howard Stern is that he has spent so many years being that "Shock Jock" and I am curious to see how he handles being on this show and having to control himself. He will be a good match for Simon Cowel who does tend to offend people as well. Perhaps Howard will be a good balance. I am predicting that he and Simon are gonna bump heads more than once before it is over. I just hope he can keep it clean for the younger kids who do appear on this show. Good Luck Howard!
