I wasn't even aware this show existed until last night when I caught an ad for it. I'd be interested in checking it out but it's already sounding like it might be a bomb.
All this talk of sci-fi and the wild west, and no mention of
Firefly? I still miss that show and would love to have something similar come along.

In his first trek movie, there is a wonderful moment with the young Jim Kirk playing with his friends, but playing as a farm kid in a society just crawling back out of survival status. This is very intergral to the character. Things changed drastically when the third world war came, and they went back to just staying alive. There is still enough of that in him that he never made the decisons that Picard would make. If Picard had grown up in his world, who knows? JJ Abrams knows to look at these things in his characters.

Agreed and I'd love to see a show that uses that approach/philosophy.
