Default Lost, Angel, Buffy, The 4400, Medium --- suggestions?

What else would I like if my favorite shows are the ones listed in the thread title, plus Alias, 24, Supernatural, Invasion, and various other earth-based fantasy/mythology/mystery thrillers?

I'm especially fond of shows that combine lots of comic relief in the midst of "end of the world" scenarios, so I'm obviously a huge fan of Medium, Buffy and Angel. Those shows could be classified as comedies if you removed the melodrama, mayhem and mysticism. "Lost" is also very good with comic relief. I want more! I can't get enough of this type of thing. I rent everything on Netflix so that I can watch an entire season in a couple weeks without having to deal with commercials or long waits between episodes.

Have you tried Smallville? I was a huge Buffy/Angel/X Files fan. Now we watch Supernatural and Smallville.

I've tried Smallville but only watched the first disk of the first season. It was OK, but not great. Does it get better, more complex, more interesting, more funny or exciting or anything?

The problem with shows like Lost and Medium is that it takes so long to get them on DVD. I won't watch them on TV, too frustrating. When I get into a series I want to watch an episode per day! And when it comes to 24, I want to watch about 12 episodes a day. Every year I've taken a few days off to watch 24. I disconnect my phone and lock myself in my home with plenty of supplies because once Jack Bauer is confronting the "end of the world" then there's simply no way I can stop watching!

Check out "Heroes".
I'm watching the 1st season DVD and I'm as happy as when I first discovered Buffy.

It's already in my Netflix queue. Unfortunately there is only one season available thus far on DVD.

I think we're in the early phase of TV on DVD, and my hope is that it won't be long before all TV shows are released on DVD in a timely manner. Currently it's common to find old TV series that still haven't released seasons on DVD even though they originally aired years ago.

I'm a video producer and I know how easy it is to put a movie on DVD because I've done it many times myself. There's no excuse for making people wait so long to get new seasons of shows like Lost, Medium and 24 on DVD.

As b. Frank mentioned, you would definitely be a "Heroes" fan. It's a GREAT show and kind of similar to "the 4400". NBC owns USA so that makes sense. You also mentioned "24" which is very different than the supernatural genre of tv shows but if you like "24", you'll also like "Prison Break."

Heroes is in my Netflix queue near the top, and I've already gotten hooked on Prison Break.

About Prison Break, I didn't think I would like it because I'm not a fan of prison-based shows in general. But a friend promised I would love it, and he was right. It's riveting and brilliant ---- my biggest complaint about it is that I still have to wait a couple weeks for Season Two and I'm definitely miffed that seasons 3 through 20 aren't ready for my hungry eyes. It's an excellent show, and anyone who thinks they don't like prison shows should check it out before passing judgment.

Dexter truly is a gem.
Alias is also pretty good but it has ended at season 5.
If you like Buffy you might like Veronica Mars but this show also got cancelled after season 3.
