I really like Community but I can see why it could turn-off a lot of people. It's very polarizing because the plots are so unorthodox.
I completely agree. I think it's one of the consistently clever and funny shows on TV right now, but I fully understand that if someone tried to get into the show by watching the video game episode, say, they'd probably never watch again.
One show I was really looking forward to and tried to like was "Terra Nova". I had such high hopes! But it was just plain bad, unwatchably bad.
That one was bad. And I wanted to watch it. Got tired of how many times someone from outside the compound managed to get into the compound. And how surprised they were when it happened...again.
I came across a show while flipping through the on-screen TV channel guide today. It was on CMT and it was a reality show about fixing up trailer park trailers (today's was a 1973 double wide). I forget the name but I had never heard of it (I don't usually watch CMT). Anyway, it was from 2008! The host was some dork who thought he was a comedian, and looked and talked like Chaz Bono, only not as big. I did do a double take a couple times to be sure. Anyway, I really tried to watch it, I did want to see how the trailer turned out. I could not make it through, it was so bad! I made it through about a half hour, then had to change the channe. Anyone familiar with this show?
Awake. I saw the first episode, and I just wanted to skip to the last episode to discover the outcome.
Missing. Loves Ashley Judd, but the show just bored me to tears. Forgive, but Ashley is just a tad too old to play The Greatest CIA Agent in The World.
The Wire. Bored me to tears.
Most Network TV Sitcoms. The Office, Parks and Recreation, etc. I don't think I've watched a network tv sitcom since .... it's been years.
Veep. Great idea, horrible execution.
Reincarnations of Melrose Place and 90210. See Veep, above. I hope that Dallas fares better.
Grimm. I wanted to like it and we gave it 5 episodes and called it quits. Only now I'm hearing good things and wonder if I should go back and try again?
There are only a couple shows I watch regularly now; Mad Men, Game of Thornes, Community, Parks and Rec. Everything else can wait until next year when the DVD's come out . Community...you have to know what you're supposed to be lauging at with this one and many people don't so it's not funny to them.
Although I haven't really "tried" to watch any reality shows I've caught a few when I've been at freinds homes and I'd be lying if I said I didn't loose a little respect for said freinds.
Winger
Awake
Missing
Mike &Molly
Countless others, but those I tried at least three episodes or more
Community, I used to like, but they icked me out with that fiasco relationship that played out between characters Annie and Jeff. Though I tried, I just couldn't appreciate the show as much after that.
