Default Game Show fans (and apperances too)

Any game show fans among us here on these forums? And on another note, have you appeared or thought about appearing on any of them?

Game shows have been a staple of my life from the beginning. It's exciting to watch the contestants win big, and in some cases, it's fun to play along at home.

I've personally given thought at appearing on either Jeopardy and/or The Price is Right. It may be tough to get on either show, but once I do appear, I better just have fun with it!

Not a huge fan of current shows, but love the older ones. Well, Wheel of Fortune is still on and The Price is Right - love those. But my favorite was Classic Concentration.

I had tickets to TPIR on my one and only trip to California in 1993 (I would LOVE to go back)! However, they stated minimum age to be in the AUDIENCE was 16, and they checked ID. My daughter, who was my only traveling companion, was just 15. Since I wasn't about to leave her alone in a hotel room, I was not able to go! :-( I have a picture (taken by my daughter) of my hand on the steering wheel of our rented car as we are passing by the CBS building. I "whined" the whole time driving by it! :-)

Now that I am older, I have no desire to go to TPIR. The prizes are no longer anything I would like or want to have. Although...... it would be fun to have my name called, run down the aisle, win the prize and get onstage, and spin the wheel. Making it to the end/big prize "war" would be the icing on the cake. If I won, I'd probably turn it down, I wouldn't want to pay the exhorborant taxes on prizes I probably wouldn't use.

Anyone know if a winner has refused the grand prize for any reason?

I was raised in the 70's and 80's when game shows ruled morning television. I'm not a fan of the newer or remade shows but did like Deal or No Deal when it first came on and 1 vs 100 but those are old now.

I really enjoy the old Let's Make a Deal, Wheel of Fortune (with Chuck Woolery and Susan Stafford), High Rollers, Whew!, Sale of the Century, older TPIR when Johnny Olson and Rod Roddy were the announcers and $25,000 Pyramid just to name a few.

Oooh, I LOVED Let's Make a Deal. Wayne Brady (?) does okay and it's satifies my need to see the show, but I prefer the original.

Also, once Deal or No Deal changed its format, it was horrible. Same with Millionaire.

Jeopardy, TPIR and Pyramid (which is being resurrected on GSN!) are my faves.

I think I'd kill on Jeopardy, but I live such a boring life I'd have nothing to share during that "get to know the contestant" bit. "Yes, Alex, being on Jeopardy has been the greatest thing to happen to me. I have nothing else to say."

The only one I like anymore is Jeopardy. I liked the wild and wacky game shows from in the 70s better.

I've always enjoyed game shows. Many years ago I was on $10,000 Pyramid. That it was $10,000 should tell you just how long ago it was. I really enjoyed the experience.

I also auditioned for Jeopardy and passed the written test, but couldn't ring the bell fast enough in the next phase. A couple of years ago I tried out for Millionaire and again passed the written test, but didn't get past the interview, too old for their demographic now I think. It was also clear from the questions that they were looking for someone with a compelling story to tell about what they would do if they won, and I didn't have a good sob story handy. It was a fun experience anyway.

Quite a few moons ago I'd say.

I always wondering where Dick Clark had to run off to when he said "so long". He never seemed to hang around as the show was going off. And I also wondered how long the contestants and celebrities chatted after the show went off the air.
