Jonny Lee Miller is brilliant at portraying Sherlock. His mannerisms, quirky facial and body tics, speech - I marvel at his characterization every episode. He's the perfect 21st century Sherlock, as Jeremy Brett was portraying the 19th century character. Other Sherlocks : Robert Downey Jr. - meh. Cumberbatch okay but doesn't have that presence Miller has.
I've also learned to like Lucy Liu though I never heard of her before this show.
This past epi (21 Nov 2013) it seemed like Sherlock made a huge miss with that telephone call from the woman they went to meet and it turned out to be a fake.
I don't know if it was on purpose or not but the woman making he phone call sounded sooooo fake I thought 'wow what a terrible actress". Seeing as how they could easily find someone who wasn't a terrible actress it seemed like something maybe Sherlock should have picked up on. And thy never did address who the serial killer had making the call.
And then there was the cop and husband of the woman who had been kept for years - well 1 she looked pretty good for all that and 2 I can't imagine someone kept in a dark box for years being tormented by a killer would be 'fine' now or maybe ever.
I did like the fact that he was willing to set the guy up because he felt responsible.

Agreed, I thought it sounded like she was reading from a script!
Did anyone notice the scene with Sherlock and Watson talking in the kitchen, when Joan got the mug out of the cabinet and sat it down? When they were talking, the mug kept changing positions from the left or right of the phone. I don't usually notice stuff like that, but it stuck out to me this time.

They decided he had used the equipment in his recording studio to alter his own voice to sound like a woman.

The thing I noticed was that she had beautiful highlights in her hair. Did he bring in a hairdresser for her every month?
Enjoyed the scene where he was using an old fashioned phone. He told Joan he felt compelled to hang up on a good many people today and so he got this phone out so he could do it with more emphasis.
I ROFL'd because I was just thinking a few days ago how nice it would be to be able to slam the phone down on telemarketers or other obnoxious people.
I try to watch this series but once again I fell asleep during the episode.
Sherlock's mannerisms irritate me. Watson is a sympathetic character and seems to be well played. But the talking just drones on and on and I cease to care if the mystery is solved. The next thing I know, I am examining the inside of my eyelids.
Guess I am not a fan.
I do like the current BBC version so it is not an anti-Sherlock thing.

Was there a new episode last night??
