We woke up this morning turned on our TV and noticed that things have changed. Brighthouse changed the information background from blue to black. This does make it much easier to read
. They also changed the way the various menus are accessed
. We used to be able to access the program guide or DVR listings just by pressing the menu button and then scrolling to the desired activity. Now the program guide,showing the times and stations, can only be accessed by pressing the guide button. When pressing the menu button the various stations show up but not the programs showing at that time. You can also select the DVR functions from this menu.
The Brighthouse service agreement states that they can make changes without notice. However, since these changes required extensive programing and testing scenarios, one would have expected BH to inform their subscrbers that the changes were coming. They have no qualms about stuffing the billing envelpes with other information, why not be proactive and let us know that things are changing. A blurb on their web site would also have been useful.
We called the service number thinking that we inadvertently did something to reprogram the cablebox (pushing the wrong combination on the remote). The service number also provided no clue that BH had changed anything. (Our cable provider in NJ usually had a "header" in their voice answering system if there were changes or system problems). Had to wait 15 minutes just to be told in a nice manner "we made the changes and you have to live with them".
It is not that these changes are bad, it is just that when you get to be a certain age you would like to be informed of the upcoming changes so that you are ready for them.
