I'm not quite sure what the criteria is here but I just sat through Twin Peaks and it felt really dated - cheap sets, bad acting - compared to today's best dramas. But I suppose one day The Sopranos and The Wire will look dated...

I didn't originate the thread, but I interpreted the subject to be more about shows that, no longer how long they ran, do not play well in modern times--that is, the subject matter is dated and only suited to when it aired. It also meant shows that may have been big hits in their day, but are not viewed as still being as popular or as timeless (for lack of a better word) in its appeal.

Well you are right to an extent. Most of the older shows like Munsters and Gilligans Island were under 100 episodes and managed to be played in reruns for generations.

Thanks to Netflix a lot of popular and unpopular old shows will live on forever without the help of TV.

I've just watched each of these shows recently in syndication. We also like to watch Happy Days and Dragnet too. I like them all.

Here is my list (some of you might not know any of these shows, which proves my point even more) i'll list sitcoms from the last 40 years, as this seems to be more common in shows after the 1960s.

-Alice
-Maude
-Too Close For Comfort
-Archie Bunkers Place
-One Day at a Time
-Mr. Belvedere
-Gimme a Break
-Small Wonder
-Murphy Brown
-Mad About You
-Blossom
-Sister, Sister
-3rd Rock From The Sun
-Suddenly Susan
-Caroline in the City
-Scrubs
-According to Jim
-8 Simple Rules
-The Office (did not want to add this but every station that airs it in reruns moved the timeslot from evening to the middle of the night because they are still under contract to air the episodes)

Anyone else notice this? What other shows can people add?

Maude has a new fanbase on Antenna TV because the show has been moved to the prime time slot at 8pm. So that confirms that the show now has a new audience and doing well in syndication.
