Walter Cronkite was on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Not a total stretch, since MTM was a CBS show and the station they worked for would have been a CBS affiliate so it isn't impossible the main news anchor would visit the network affiliate in a major city like Minneapolis.
On Roseanne, Blues Traveler gave a concert and visited the Conners. Dan played with the band because they claimed he had "been in the band in earlier days".
Christine Amanpour stayed at the Inn owned by the main character on Gilmore Girls and had a heart to heart conversation with Rory. Some other celebrity ate dinner at the inn and Suki the cook got made that he was there because he didn't order much. For some reason she announced to him that she pregnant, I forget why.
DJ won a radio show to go to the concert, but couldn't decide who to take. They Beach Boys were waiting outside in the limo and came in to ask her where she was (or something like that). They might have also made another appearance when Jesse was looking for a song to record and they let him use one of theirs.
Yeah, I'm lame huh? LOL, big fan of the show back then.
Also, Tommy Page went there to sing at Stephanie's birthday party.
Ah yes, it's coming back to me now. All I could remember was the end of the show they all got on stage at the Beach Boys concert and sang Kokomo with them.
I recently read something that said that the Doobie Brothers appeared as themselves on What's Happening in the 70s, but I can't find the reference right now.
Ya, Rerun got caught trying to bootleg record their show. He had a giant trenchcoat on with a tape recorder hidden inside. The tape recorder fell out and afterwards they had a frank discussion about the effects of music piracy on the artists themselves. They were ahead of their times!
How about Dean Martin on Sherriff Lobo? That was pretty contrived.
I don't mind so much when celebs make some goofy appearance but I hate when they fold in a musical act to promote their latest album. Like when The Foo Fighters were on The West Wing or when The Rolling Stones were on Days of Our Lives.
