I watch a lot of PBS too and they're raising funds right now too. I think a lot of the reason why is because, PBS is on an academic fiscal calendar and June 30th is the end of their fiscal year (at least it is here in North Carolina). I suspect they're trying to reach a goal by year's end in order to make their budgets.

Mark my words ... come first part of July you'll only moderately here about fundraising.

I personally don't mind the fundraising. It's a rather minor annoyance for the otherwise excellent product that PBS puts out.

Exactly. I don't have kids, yet I pay for public schools. We don't get to pick and choose where our tax money goes.

Heck yeah! That's better than a lot of the crap they get on Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, or even Disney.

They need the money. What else do you want them to do?

I use to donate a certain amount every month, until I discovered that they sell my personal information. I constantly get advertisements in the mail, in my e-mail and on my phone. I would like to know what gave them the right to do this. They have gotten the last of any donation from me.

PBS is the only tv show worth watching. They can do whatever it takes to remain on the air. If PBS ever goes off so will my tv.

Admit that their usefulness has run it's course and shut down or go the ad supported route. There was a time when PBS was a community service because there were limited broadcast options. Now there are 50+ cable channels and 20+ broadcast channels in every market PBS is in.
