Well its that time of year again, its time for the infamous eurovision song contest. If you're not familiar with eurovision, its where all the countries in the eurovision group(they dont have to actually be in europe)send their best singers to compete in this contest which has been going on for 61 years!! the 60's want too bad ,In the 70's it was like street performers meets bad lounge acts meets amateur night at the local high school, the 80s was a little better. the production has gotten much better since then but it still is very campy and corny, the songs are made for the contest and dont really stand on their own very well.Put it this way, in 61 years they only managed to produce one international famous group and that was ABBA and that was over 40 years ago!!!!
And if the songs werent bad enough, the voting seems to go on forever, every country participating can vote, half the points come from judges and the other half from the viewers, they get 1 to 12 points and there is no 9 or 11 points, why ?? dont ask its eurovision. They also try to keep the interest up until the end but you usually know who the winner is long before it ends. For example if there are 50 points separating the first place from second place and there are only four countries left to vote with a max of 12 points then there is no more than 48 points left, the country in first place has to win.we can all figure this out but still they try to keep it a secret until the very end.
Also it was reported that Australia was among the finalists. I am assuming it was a typo and they meant Austria. Australia | Eurovision Song Contest
Australia got special rights to participate because they love the contest I don't personally agree but as it is not as good as back then it is same who ever who would participate...
I was a huge fan before when everyone would sign on their our anguage and would use their own musical cultural specialities.. Now I mostly just miss that old contest when listening songs.
I saw first semifinals, not yet see the second but I will watch when I find time for that.

Anyway, here in Italy eurovision is not famous at all. I heard it for the first time in 2013 I think. THE music festival in here is Sanremo (both for people who like and for people who dislike it).
Russia's entry will be hard to beat this evening... or at least, it will be if the singer will remember all that choreography (and if he will manage to climb the screen without slipping)
