Go watch the borgias while you wait. Its just as good if not better. And im sure i dont have to mention game of thrones.
Where would one find these? I know I don't get Game of Thrones, since I saw a teaser for it and was going oh wow, but dang. Borgias just doesn't interest me so much, but I don't see it on the guide.
I'm hoping it goes to netflix. Can't stand hulu's interruptions.
If they would've foreseen the outstanding ratings, I bet they would've geared up another season quicker.
Or made more episodes for the first season. But who knew? There haven't been too many shows like this made for US TV, but then again, this is written by a Brit.

I think it shows. The thing that makes this work is the Vikings are shown as warriors and conquers and within their culture, but are neither heros or villens. The sacrifice is unflinchinly shown, but then the men who died did so willingly and in honor within their culture. American writers tend to have to throw that bit of judgement in there. That is one of the things which make it so good.
That episode reminded me of a series of books called "The Saxon chronicles"...Almost to the point that I assume the show is somewhat based on those books.
A viking crew led by a guy named Ragnar goes to Northumbria and captures an English kid as a slave, but Ragnar likes him, he grows up to be a Viking. In the book it's told from the kids point of view and he's not a monk. Kick ass books.
Going into withdrawl, the first of this series I'd ordered arrived and I read a chapter before closing it. I fist second and third it as a time machine. I am pretty sure this is in part what the series is based on but heartily reccomend the book.
In case anyone is in Viking withdrawl, I found I had this bookmarked in a very long list of you tube songs and thought it might be of interest. Leslie is a folk/filk songwriter and performer, and of course, she's also SCA.
Looks like the premiere of season two will be February 27th. I hope we get an opportunity to re-watch Season 1 before it starts. I remember I loved it, but it's been so long I forgot half the events. Anyone else looking forward to it?

Oh yes. I have the dvd and we'll have to do a rewatch just because. With my new speakers the music should sound even better.
I'm really curious about the Irish slave/priest and what happens with him since he seems to have adapted quite well.

The priest and Ragnar seemed to have formed a bond, but Ragnar was willing to have the priest sacrificed. I'm thinking the priest is trying to fit in the Viking culture, but not to that extent!
Loved this show, but agree it has been a long time and would need to re watch it. Thanks for the heads up!
