What is the name of the Bible series? DH mentioned seeing it advertised... but I couldn't find it to have it recorded.

I have Vikings being recorded now...... it's NOT a documentary?! Poo.

If it is around 795 it means they have just raided Lindisfarne and the viking era has just begun.
Leif Eriksson will not discover Vinland for another 200 years.

The show is stupid, one wag called it Sons of Anarchy in the 8th Century. And the notion that 8th Century Scandanavians were unaware of the British Isles, France and the Low Countries is absurd. Doubly absurd in the case of Danes and Norwegians.

You know the opening scene in the movie Gladiator. Were those Vikings that they fought, i was kind of hoping for more guys like that in this show.

The scene was supposed to be Germania (Germanic tribes) not Vikings. Terrific battle scene in the movie and hopefully the TV show will be more in depth than what was shown in the first episode.

They were fighting the Marcomanni, a Germanic nation. Not that the battle had even the slightest resemblance to a real one of the Marcomannic War, the Marcomanni being one of the more sophisticated, disciplined and well armed of the Germanic peoples. And in real life the scruffy Marcomannic leader shown would have cut the finest figure on the battlefield, clothed in fine silks and woolens and with splendid silvered or gilded armor. Barbarian leaders looked sharp.

Not to mention that Romans didn't shoot exploding napalm at their enemies.

[quote=melaniej65;28528981][quote=tamiznluv;28527378] Direct TV doesn't have VOD like FIOS does and I have no choice down in this new area. quote]

Do you have an older Direct TV system? I only ask because we have just switched to Direct TV and the system definitely has VOD (and it is much better than our old cable company!). Perhaps your system can be updated?

Thanks, Mel, I'll have to call and ask. I just had it installed 3 weeks ago! I would've thought it would be a new system.
