I agree with all of that except Happy Days. Why do you think it should have been canceled?
I liked the first 2 seasons when it was a single camera show, they filmed at various locations, and the writing was really good. After that, they switched to the standard sitcom formula, Fonzie became a caricature, and the show just started going by the numbers. It was an almost completely different show that lost all its charm.
I remember about several years ago there was a site about "jumping the shark". It used to list all the TV shows and the consensus on the moment the show took a turn for the worst.
I wonder what happened to that site?
It was bought by TV Guide (for like 7 figures) who then destroyed all of the content and tried to make into something else.
There is a site called Bone the Fish that is at least making an attempt as reviving "Jump the shark"
People say Prison Break a lot. I am just wrapping up season 4 on Netflix. The show sure has changed from season 1 to 4. It used to have heart and now it's just a shell of itself with the over-caricatured "Company" and Scylla. What the heck is Scylla?.
Smallville. Once they were done with the character-development/relationship-dynamic phase of the show, it really started to suck. The first couple seasons were charming and endearing and the sci-fi aspects were entertainingly corny. But then after a while it started to take itself way too seriously.
Lost - Gave up after series 2
Heroes
Dexter ( I absolutely loved the first three series then it started to go downhill becoming more and more silly)
Happy Days - Chachi - Bleh
CSI Miami - Became just more and more ridiculous and more like a fashion shoot
CSI Vegas - When Grissom left
Scooby-Doo - One word/name : Scrappy-Doo - Shudder

Agreed. I stuck with Smallville long after I should have. Once they finally did the whole Witches of Eastwick knock-off, I gave up.
HEROES was a show that was obviously conceived with a definite story ending, which they reached at the end of season 1. After that, it was pretty obvious they had no idea what they were doing. They'd still manage to squeak out a good episode now and then, but for the most part watching that show was like watching a drunk trying to walk the line with his eyes closed.
