I am still on season 1...just watched 3 more episodes last night. Got to #13 I think.
It is sooo crazy...I know I'm talking about old stuff but that Ethan guy is crazy....waiting to see what he wanted with Claire, but Charlie killed him already...or supposedly...lol.
Justthere, slow down. We know Des has Penny for his constant and that Daniel has Des. These are givens from previous epis.
Ben didn't shoot down any thing? Where did that come from?
Sawyer is not now or will ever be "an other".
We are presuming that Whidmore had to do this previously when he was ousted as leader. It is why he is trying to find "his" island. We know the island has been out of sync with reality from daniels rocket tests from the freighter. Maybe that is a lingering result of what Whidmore had to do.
Someone posted today that Miles IS Dr Candle's child. It's only speculation, we don't KNOW that for sure, yet.
wow, I think I've become a bit too obsessed with LOST! less than 4 hours after watching the episode, I had my own little nosebleed. granted, I think mine was due more to horribly dry air and a persisting cold rather than time skips (though I haven't left the house yet today... I may find it's 2012 outside and the world is preparing for doomsday ). quick thoughts from my rather fuzzy head:
-JIN'S ALIVE!! happiest moment on LOST this season! I kind of had a feeling he would be, given the fact that he was right near the edge of the boat and the boat blew up from the middle, so he could have survived the blast. however, what I want to know is how Jin ended up traveling through time w/ the Island. if he was within the radius on the Island (like Daniel and the others of the Zodiac were), then how come the ship wasn't sucked into the time wrap too? the only thing I could think of to explain this was that the freighter stopped just shy of the border of the Island's reach and the bomb explosion threw Jin into the Island's radius. IDK, but I don't get how Jin and his door-raft thingy was the only thing from the boat that was w/in the radius.
-I think the time jump where the group finds the deserted camp was our first real jump into the future. it seemed like all the other jumps took place in the past. I'm so happy to see Ajira finally brought up in LOST cannon, though I could never figure out the website, whether it contained some clues and was an ARG or just a random website. I think Ajira is the next Oceanic in that the O6 will use it to get back on the island. I've seen this theory floating around a lot of different message boards today, so I'll just sign on and agree w/ it: I think the people shooting at Sawyer et al were the O6 just recently back on the Island. it doesn't make too much sense why they'd be shooting at them, but I can't think of any other theory of my own
-I really don't get Sun at all! the second I saw Kate getting ready to leave Aaron w/ Sun, I was saying, "Sun's gonna take your baby!" I was so sure this was some plot of Sun's to get Aaron in her hands and trade him in for her own kidnapped daughter. I'm still of the opinion that whatever Sun is doing, she's being forced to do so b/c someone has Ji-Yeon, not too dissimilar to what Michael had to do to get Walt back. it's the only way I can explain why she would only have an old baby picture of Ji-Yeon and not a more updated picture (is there any first time parent out there that doesn't have multiple recent pictures of their kid?). there's something very cold and un-motherly about Sun that I don't like
-I loved the whole thing w/ Claire's mom. I kind of guessed a while ago that Ben sent the lawyers to shake Kate up and get her running, but I did like how the writers threw in Claire's mom as the possible snitch. my question is, how much did Jack spill before realize that her mom was clueless? I mean, i know the woman was comatose for a while, but you'd think she'd be sitting on her bed wondering what the hell all that was about and begin asking questions. she had to have known that Claire was pregnant and that Aaron would be the proper age to be Claire's son. how likely could it be that 2 women in their last trimester both ending up on the same flight?
-I wonder how much time we're going to spend w/ young Danielle before the next flash? did anyone else find it weird that Danielle was so young? I thought she was a scientist; she barely looked older than 21 when she met Jin. granted, I supposed she could have been a prodigy, but just seemed so young to be on that expedition (and of course, she really didn't look a lot like the woman who played Danielle in seasons past, though i guess living on that island for 16 years would age you too). now that I think about it, has Danielle and Jin ever really met each other in the previous seasons? you'd think Danielle would remember meeting a Korean man w/ the same man when she first landed on the Island
-The Little Prince=Aaron? I'm gonna have to reread the book, but I can't help but think that this episode heavily hinted at the fact that Aaron would play a larger role. not only were the off Island scene heavily focused on Kate trying to figure out who was trying to take Aaron from her, but they showed his birth on screen again. I don't think they did that just as an excuse to have Sawyer stare at Kate. wasn't the whole plot of the book about a little boy who needed to get back home, which was an asteroid or something? maybe the Island is Aaron's real home and he does need to come back. i may go check out the wiki page for the story and see if I can't find any connections
Ben didn't shoot down any thing? Where did that come from?
I should have started with this is my theory, ok, just hear me out. I don't think the plane 'went down' by accident and really, never did from the first episode. Adam & Juliet had been arguing in the book club when they go outside and they see this Juliet's Vision
Ben comes out of another house, while everyone else is just looking around, Ben immediately looks both ways then up at the sky as if looking for something specific - spots the plane and while looking up at the plane Ben & Juliet see a piece of the plane fly off and then split. Immediately, Ben is already prepared (as always) for what has to be done regarding the crash and this doesn't seem to be something that takes him by surprise. I think he was expecting the main characters. He tells Goodwin, right away what needs to be done. Also, I was thinking about how the main characters all came about getting the tickets onto this flight in the first place. Plus the remaining injured pilot (Cpt. Norris) told Jack & Kate that they had lost radio contact 6 hours after take off. (The black smoke monster eventually kills this remaining pilot and we know Ben can summon the black smoke monster.)
Now, that I think about it, let me retract the rash thought of "shoot it out of the sky" and just say I think Ben was aware of its staging. I thought this from the first episode before the show entered the realm of complex to the tenth power.
Re the constants (Penny is Desmond's and Desmond is Faraday's Constant and possibly Widmore being Ben's [because Ben says he can't kill Widmore]) and banishment from the island (Widmore & Ben), you mighta got that right off the back, I sure didn't...actually, not until I read the transcript. Since I like to read, its easier for me to absorb what happened after I see an episode, so I'm just putting the little pieces together...while babbling on.

That would have been me, and you are right -- that is pure speculation on my part. I make it a point not to read the spoilers and so really have no idea if I am right or wrong on that score.....but I do think I am right

We know that the plane was off course, but we don't know why. But what was it that made everyone go outside? The "earthquake" caused by the build up of electromagnetic energy at the Swan station because neither Desmond or Kelvin were there to enter the code and push the button. This is the most likely cause of the break up of the plane.

Ben actually isn't the only one that looks up, though he is the first. But what does Ben say to Ethan "There may actually be survivors." A few moments later he follows with "Listen, learn, don't get involved. I want lists in three days." This could have all been show for the people gathered around, but it seems to imply that Ben didn't know about that plane, didn't know if anyone would even be alive, and didn't know who was on it. If you know all of that in advance, why the need to ask for the information?
I am curious to see where they are going with the Ajira Airways angle. We have old outrigger canoes but a new plastic water bottle. As to who is on the other outrigger following Locke and the rest, seems really odd that it could be the returning Oceanic 6 group. Since they have come back to save everyone else, why would they then shoot at the other canoe without knowing who is actually in it and risk the possibility of injuring or killing the very people they came back to save?
So off to the Orchid we go. Guess we know now why and how Daniel came to be in the tunnel with the workers building the Orchid station.
Why does Sun hate Ben...have thought about that one and I think it's probably pretty simple. First there was the whole raft incident when the Others came out on Ben's orders, took Walt, and almost killed Michael, Jin and Sawyer in the process. But more importantly, I believe that she blames Ben for Jin's "death" because the only reason that the freighter and Psycho Keamy even came to the Island was because of Ben. Everyone got caught up and became victims or casualties of Ben's private war with Charles Widmore. So why not team up with Widmore to punish the person you hold responsible for not only for your husband's "death" but other survivors as well? Classic "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" I believe.

Good point!! But couldn't the list also provide confirmation of who 'should' be on the plane according to the knowledge Ben already has? For instance, to compare to Jacob's List? Remember that life/death list? Jack, Kate, Locke aren't on the list but Sawyer is, so Sawyer becomes the target. Okay, someone pass the LOST lint roller ... nosebleed.
I'll end with a quote from Charlie: Dear Mom: Everything's fine. I'm on the Island, unless, of course, the black smoke people show up. Love"
(they have to loop back to the crash at some point and I can't wait to get a clearer view when they do.)
I think we won't see much time with the French team or else Jin's going to meet up quickly with his group. That would leave Danielle's team with only a short glimpse and so much else is happening. Recall that Danielle ends up killing her team as they all become sick..?
I could be wrong and we might see more Jin interaction with the Frech team, however that would then leave Danielle with more of a memory to take in. I'd kind of like to re-watch most of Danielle's scenes to see if she and Jin interact and if we saw her react as such.
Either way the show will account for it, they always do.

Hey Tony; doesn't Ben have access to the outside "future" world via the boob tube? Remember? The Red Sox? So wouldn't he know about the crash, the fact that a Doc is on board, and that Widmore and his gang are gonna come lookin' for his Island?

IDK. I thought it was gonna turn out that Sun found out that Ben offed Keamy and thus caused the freighter to blow up; and kinda had an eph it attitude when Locke didn't want Ben to kill Keamy? But only Ben and Locke knew about this and I can't think of any way whatsoever that Sun could have found out. I like your theories here, but in the preview to next weeks episode, ... it sheds light on the relations between Ben and Sun...
