I have season 1 on DVD and I was looking forward to the release of seasons 2 and 3 but imagine my dissapointment when I found out each season DVD set was broken up into two separate parts, each retailing for about $40 bucks! What is the logic behind this?? That means each DVD set will only have about 10 or 12 episodes, and you have to buy 2 sets just to complete one season!

If I were you and really wanted this, I would wait a while. Around the holidays, Target will probably have them on sale for $20 or less. I know I got the Gossip Girl DVDs for (I think) $10 or $12 (normally around $40)

You can also check ebay but those could be counterfeit and of a much lesser quality.

your'e right, I think I'll just wait. I really, really want this, but not at this price. It's obvious to me that their greed has driven them to gouge me and separate me from as much of my hard earned money as they possibly can.

Good show, but for one season of any series, $80 is more than enough

I've read in other forums, as well as noticed myself that some studios that boast "Complete (fill in season # here) Season" really aren't. When compared to the older Beta/VHS releases, original or syndicated broadcasts that have been taped on our VCRs', some of these new DVD releases now have noticable missing lines. Some even have laugh tracks added/removed. Legend has it that a few have even omited an entire (tiny) scene! Missing lines and scenes even exist in older movies new to DVD.

As the OP stated...Greed. If we're lucky, perhaps we'll get the full versions in the upcoming Box-Set or Director's Edition of any single movie or series!

It is not greed, it is people selling something they own for a price they can get from customers. If nobody buys it, the price will come down.

Or if no one buys it, they will not bother releasing the whole set.

"The Big Valley" Season One was released as a single set. Then they got greedy and decided to release Season Two in two different releases, charging as much for the half season as they did for the full one.

Apparently no one fell for this because that was six or seven years back and we are still waiting for the release of the second part of Season Two.
