I haven't been interested in any of the Netflix original series offerings, but this one looks good.

And the prison is fairly gritty looking as are some of the actors.
Anyway I stumbled on it and like it.

Wow.....I started watching this yesterday and have just finished watching the whole first season.
Holy Buckets! Really a very intense show....I sure hope there is another season.
A bit graphic, and explicit sexually...But, great actors.
I also recommend another Netflix original series, House of Cards.

I was hoping to find the scene with Taystee and her friend doing the whole imitating upper class white women schtick, man they nailed it I thought it was hilarious. I love the Star Trek captain as Red, love the character Red. Didn't find it but saw some interviews with the author of the book, cast. Apparently the show is a departure from the book which is ok with the author. She sees it as an adaption.
Quite a cliff hanger......................., I think the hardest thing and the number one priority in prison as depicted is not doing anything that adds to your sentance.

I'm about half-way through. It's pretty good over all - but the best friends constant complaining about being pregnant is really getting on my nerves.

Started watching this a week ago and we are hooked! Told a friend about it two days ago and he stayed up watching the entire season in one sitting.

Yep if this were a real prison Piper would have been dead just from that radio interview.

The pregnancy story line is so full of flaws I don't like that Mendez dude at all. Sad there really are jerks like that being COs in our prisons.

Somebody asked why do they have male guards at a female prison same reason they have females at a male prison. I'm sure one side of the sexes filed a unfair claim for not hiring them many years ago.

Agreed...the scenes with the two black inmates imitating hoity-toity white women were a riot! I'm only about halfway through, but I'll probably finish up this weekend. Couldn't figure out why the girl who plays Alex Vause (Piper's ex-lover) looked so familiar. Finally it hit me...she was Donna on "That '70s Show".

Just watched S1E2. Still not loving it. A little to cutesy for my tastes. But I don't rule out continuing the series....... At least not yet.
