I watched most of it, then went to wash the dishes. It didn't grab me. I'll probably give it another chance next week and see if it gets more interesting.
It's off to a bit of slow start, but I'll keep watching.
I'll admit I became very annoyed at the focus on all the ruin scenery, that's such a Detroit cliche' and it hurt the show for me. There are so many great neighborhoods in Detroit full of nice well kept houses, there's no reason why a cop would be living across the street from abandoned, burned out houses, that rang very false.
I liked it but didn't love it. It kept my interest largely on the strength of the two main actors and some really good directing. I'll tune in for another episode or two anyway, then go from there.
It is nice to see a cop show not set in New York or L.A. for once. Detroit has lot of character, both good and bad.
I agree that we need to give it a few weeks to see how the story line develops. It is a very intense show, with no comedic interruptions, at least, none in the opening episode. I can see where this wouldn't be for everyone.
Here's a quick synopsis
The 2 cops killed a murderous drunk of a fellow cop, drowning him and them making it look like he committed suicide. When the car was found, the torso of a dead body was found in the trunk. Internal Affairs and the female cop are suspicious.
There are a few criminals who seem to have worked with the dead cop.
I didn't like it. It seemed very choppy and dark and I didn't "like" any of the characters particularly, so...it didn't do a good job of grabbing me and drawing me in.
