I wanted to love it (as a child of the 80s), but it was so nonsensically and predictably terrible, we turned it off after grandpa ran into the drive-thru restaurant.
Lame.
The only thing 80's was the music ... everything else was caricature. I'm sure as soon as Garlin cashes his check, he goes home and takes a long hot shower to get the stank off him from having to work on that show.
It's trying desperately to be Wonder Years, 80's style. FAIL.

If it was trying to be Wonder Years, it wouldn't have gone for the cheap laugh.
I don't know what it was trying to be, but it was awful.
Even though I liked the show well enough, it's nowhere near what "The Wonder Years" was. "The Wonder Years" had a lot of humanity. I'll never forget the episode whereKevin's dad took him to work with him for a day. Great TV there.
I had high hopes for this show, particularly because I'm a Wendy McClendon-Covey (did I get the name right?) fan (since Reno 911). Unfortunately, they did the whole dad is dumb thing, and the comedy in general seems a bit like slapstick. Did not enjoy it much.
I like her too because of Reno 911. I gave this show a try and it was awful...like the Wonder Years stripped of the charm, crossed with the grating personalities of Everybody Loves Raymond. I will be shocked if it doesn't get canceled within a few weeks.
Looked at it last night. It was so boring. It's gonna be one of the 1st casualties of the new season. For that matter I don't have high hopes for Trophy Wife either
Too much yelling for me and the characters too stereotypical of today's sitcoms. I turned it off before the end. I think I was hoping for something more along the lines of "The Wonder Years."
It was a more modern variation of the Wonder Years except that it is about the 1980's. All I can say Murray is definitely my dad. I can't tell you how many times he's done the "I raised an idiot" line or something along those lines. I just hope the mother doesn't annoy me too much that I need to give up on the show.
