The judges seem to base their decisions on overall performance throughout the weeks, not just the outfits made for each competition.

agreed. i think either of those should have won over the other dude (jay?)'s dress, although it was good too. i think amy should have been in the top 3 instead of mila.

regarding sending jesse home over emilio, on one hand emilio's was a total mess. but he did try to do something interesting, while jesse's was totally pedestrian AND not executed that well. i can see interesting vision with awful execution just barely winning out over boring vision with not quite as awful execution. i do hate when designers make stupid excuses for their poor decisions though.

and i agree with hopes that they do seem to take past performance into account, which i think is fair enough.

is it me, or are the unconventional material challenges producing garments that are miles ahead of the "make a pretty dress" challenges? i hope someone at lifetime is taking notes!

der, not jay's dress; jay's outfit!

i must say that it is impressive that he actually made something decent looking out of a garbage bag, especially considering the history garbage bags have on this show!

I was really surprised how poorly most of the contestants did with this week's challenge using the elements (fire, water, air and earth). I only saw two that I thought really conveyed the element the contestant was assigned.

I did think the winning design was great though. That black leather thing was not my cup of tea personally but it was interesting and well done. Both were "Air" I think....I also liked the tornado thing...which would have been "air" too...I thought the "Earth" dress (not the female designer's grey mineral vest) was ok too...

I agreed that Ben's "shark suit" was the worst garment. It is too bad that he tried to do something that was a challenge for him and blew it. He does dresses so well that he could have done an amazing water dress and probably lived to see another week.

Amy's whole concept was horrible and the hair was creepy. It looked like there was hair under the model's arms - long blond hair. Ugh. Amy pushes the envelope and is rarely safely in the middle. That can be a good thing or a bad thing.

I loved Jonathan's dress on his model. She was lovely in those colors and I was pleased that he won a challenge.

I have been pretty pleased with the judging this season. I really like Nina's thoughtful, sharp, but not mean comments.

I loved Jonathan's dress, so pretty. I didn't think Ben's suit was all that bad. Amy's design was horrible, that huge hairy chest on her model was weird and scary, the worst I've ever seen on PR. She should have been auf'ed IMO.

Same here. For such a cool challenge.....there really weren't any great colors on the runway. I was disappointed!! I think I could have come up with better ideas than they did and I'm not even good at clothes design.

There is that fine line between edgy and fugly....and she's crossed over to the fugly side a time or two.

LOL - When I made my previous post that you responded to, I almost wrote the same last sentence as you, except that I was going to say I couldn't even do more than sew on a button.
