Lately I have started watching Everybody Loves Raymond. Never watched it much during it's first run and I really enjoy the show. I think part of that is because I can identify with it. The meddling mother who blatantly favors one of her kids (I'm the Raymond, by the way) the parents who are constantly yelling at one another and seemingly fighting though in reality it's just the way they express their love, the dynamic between Debra & Marie is similar (though far more extreme) to the relationship my wife and Mom have.

Also, with my Mom being a single child I could always see similarities to the show All In The Family. Now, my Grandfather was no Archie Bunker, but physically both had similar hair and style of clothing. My Grandmother, oddly enough, had very similar hair to Edith as well. Now Archie & Edith's relationship was WAY different than my Grandparents was, but the physical similarities always stood out to me. The style of furniture at the Bunker household was similar to my Grandparent's.My Mom was a blonde, like Gloria, she was a product of the same time, and her first husband was a dopey, hippie with long brown hair and mustache who always butted heads with my Grandfather.

Just curious if there are any sitcoms that you have found yourself identifying with on these types of levels, and if so how so?

WKRP in Cincinnati.

When I watched the show as a kid, I thought it was typical TV exaggeration. No way could people be that crazy in real life. Then I got a job at a newspaper. Reality is WAAAAAAY stranger than fiction.

As a kid growing up at the same time Wonder Years started it's run, I can relate to Kevin Arnold. So, Wonder Years will always have a place in my heart.

As a grown man now...pfffft, I don't even want to say which tv show I identify with....LOL...lets just say, the main character of this particular show, he's not a nice person.

I love, love, love WKRP. The acting, writing, and production were perfection.

I also love the Mary Tyler Moore Show. I wanted to be like Mary Richards when I grew up,

I relate to King of Queens and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Awkward real life situations I can relate to and they seem to have a lot of those, so it makes me laugh.

I tend to relate to characters more than the whole show
Seinfeld
- David Puddy in that I am simple minded, work on cars, stare at stuff, act crazy during sports, dating a lunatic of a woman
- Kramer in that I like to come up with schemes to make money

MWC
- I agree with Al Bundy

Big Bang Theory
- I like all the nerdy stuff that the 4 guys do, but I'm not as smart

When I visit relatives I feel like Gilligan stranded on a deserted island.
