EVery season except season 1 (10 episodes) has been at least 15 eps long. This past season was the longest of the run at 18 eps. They have been splitting the seasons since season 3,

Glad to see it returning. It would be nice if the network would rotate Rizzoli and Isles with Major Crimes instead of nothing then both back at once.( For a few weeks each)
