Default What do you think of TV shows based on your city?

The comment about Three's Company in an earlier thread got me to wondering... what do you guys think of tv shows based on your city? Does Boston Legal or Cheers do a good job of representing Boston? (Cool shots of the bridge at the beginning of Boston Legal, by the way). Do the characters in CSI-Miami act like real Floridians? Do NYC apartments look like the places in Friends or Mad About You? etc. etc.

If you had a magic wand what would you change about these shows?

Has a television show ever made you consider moving to a city?

No TV shows that I've seen to date which are based in St. Louis. Surprising that there haven't been any.

The worst thing about TV shows and movies set in Boston is that the vast majority of actors never, ever get the accent right! Unless they're actually from the area, of course.

Yep, hehe...just look at Crossing Jordan. Did hear too many Boston accents in that show. Sure people tried to imitate it but wound up sounding like New Yorkers...not too surprising to me at least

What??? No shows in St. Louis--how can that be? I thought EVERY town had some tv show set there. Even Scranton has one, and that's a town that always gets overlooked. But you're right, I can't think of any St. Louis shows. Some of the other towns I can think of are:

Cleveland: Drew Carey
Detroit: Tool Time (I might have the name wrong, a Tim Allen comedy)
Scranton: The Office
Minneapolis: MTM, of course
Cincinnati: WKRP in Cincinnati
Northern VA: The X-files (and parts of West Wing were set in Middleburg)

What about Lexington? Louisville? Fargo? Albuquerque? Maine? Nebraska?

Dallas, ugh I hate that show... It makes us look like a whity-tighy community of which... well, idk...it make us look too conservatively.

The Soprano's & North Jersey. Really, we aren't all a bunch of velour tracksuit (well, I wear them around the apartment) wearing goons that drive Cadillac's.
