So if you watched the Simpsons today in their intro.... they REVEALED where Springfield is located!! If you paid attention carefully as they zoomed out to the US map and then to the planet... it is LOCATED in Illinois... hehehehe... usually I don't care but the writers have been trying to be illusive of where springfield is located...
There was one episode that claimed the Simpsons lived in Kentucky, but then in another it's said the state they live in is a northern state. Bottom line is that it's a mystery. It's kind of like with King of the Hill, no one knows what part of Texas Arlen is located in.
Interesting fact though, to back up Springfield, IL as the real location, in the show there is a town called Shelbyville. Well there is a Shelbyville not far from Springfield, IL.

We have a Springfield in Kentucky and it's about an hour or so away from Shelbyville Kentucky as well.
