He'll always be Benjamin Sisko, Emmisiary to the Prophets and Starfleet captain who plays hardball with it comes to war to me. DS9 wouldn't have been the same series without the force of personality he gave the captain.
I remember at the beginning of DS9 he had a full head of hair and clean shaven. Then later on when the ratings started to dip, he came back for the new season bald and with a goatee, and I was like, "Captain Hawk!!"

It matched the way Sisko had changed. Not only was he growing more comfortable with being the Emmissary, and willing to challenge starfleets displeasure on that, but he saw WAR coming and was becomming a warrior. The very different thing about this show was it was about and area and people who were not used to peace and certainty, and it changed the starfleeters who lived among them. They often refered to 'new frontiers' but DS9 actually took them there.
I see, if things had gone very wrong for the feds, that Sisko would have turned guerilla and resistance without starfleet because it is just how he was made.
