putting aside the fact i don't agree that people want to watch a reality show of everyone happy and getting along..
the problem with this show are as follows:
-vet. shes in her 2nd year of school to be a vet tech? and only works with cats and dogs she said. she knows nothing about the animals and is really only concerned with screwing the 'chile farmer' and sleeping in until noon. she is wrong all the time and gets irritated if anyone else says anything because she doesn't want to feel less useful. that why she hated rhonda, rhonda knew more than her about cows/chickens
-farmers. the 'keyhole' bella lady is a girl who is the 'white sheep' of a very wealthy old-money southern family who researched this crap on the internet, doesn't have a clue, and is a lot crazy.
the 'chile farmer' is the son of a family that OWNS a chile farm. he doesn't have the first idea what to do, or the desire to do anything except 'make dope designs' on the side of the table and hook up with the non-vet.
-governer/buisiness. mike the lawyer does not care one bit, he pretended for a day or 2.. amanda is a behavior specialist and she does tend to speak well to everone but she is boring and is just there because shes the only one in america dumb enough to agree to have a baby here.
-chef. maybe he would be ok in a restaurant with ingredients or something, but he barely cooks..
-nudist polyamourous lady. has no breasts.
-contractor. incompetent, needed to get red to wire simple stuff..had no idea how to hook up a stove or the fact a propane stove was a stupid and more expensive idea
-red. hes entertaining, but no one listens to him because hes a hillbilly and beats subjects to death.
-huntress. has never actually killed a deer with a bow..
i flat out loved the feeds for a straight week. not for anything to do with any state of utopia, but because they were total mayhem. it was fun to watch. now with no one for red to play off of, dave gone, and every songle person against the nutty proprepper..all there is left are a couple ok people, and way too many unwatchables (nikki/bri/chris/josh are instant turn off the feed characters once you have watched a little)
The smartest folks are laying low, cleaning their fingernails.
Are you absolutely positive there ARE actual smart ones on this show?
A few strike me as fairly intelligent but delusional: they're either delusional about their views and how people perceive those views, or delusional about their own attractiveness.
The rest fall into two groups: those who are what the tabloids call "famewhores" who crave being seen on TV for any reason, and those who are just plain dim-witted. As in not smart.
I'm waiting to see who gets sent in next. If it's more histrionic morons, I'm out.
you have to figure..you have to commit a year. not many 'smart' people can just drop all their responsibilities for an entire year. work, clients, bosses whatever..family, house, pets, cars etc..
I wouldn't get too attached if you are still watching this show. That's significantly lower than X Factor's ratings, which Utopia is basically replacing.
I think, very soon, you'll see 'encore' episodes of Brooklyn 99 and Mindy Project in its place.
I struggled to finish watching the first two hour episode, but I made it through, rah. That will probably be the only episode I watch, unless someone dies or gets assaulted (eta..or if there is some girl on girl action). How is this any way an attempt at a Utopia? I don't understand the rules, something about $5,000 (???). Are there winners? I thought they said at the start they were on five acres. I used to live on 5 acres, that may seem huge if you live a city condo, but it isn't huge. Certainly not enough acreage to hunt with a bow. And it appears to be completely fenced. Are they allowed to venture beyond the fence? Someone gets taken off in an ambulance on the second day, lol. With only a couple of exceptions, men appear to have been chosen for high conflict. Women appear to have been selected based upon their willingness to walk around naked (maybe this is the origin of the Utopia meme). Again, why is it that every other black guy on TV is bald? Survivor without the contests, and hence boring.
Do you really think people will tune in to watch a group of people sitting around a fire singing kumbaya? Drama is what draws viewers in (as annoying as that drama can be)
Yes, I want them all sitting around the campfire, toasting marshmallows, making s'mores and putting everyone to sleep.
Maybe the younger generation thrives on fights and drama, but I do not. They can have good reality shows without every other word bleeped out, without destroying other people's food, without insulting each other or trying to start fights.
My guess is they wanted the most extreme personality types so they would all clash with each other and so that is what they got. Now we can watch it crash and burn. I am up for one more episode, I seem to have missed one since I did not see Dave go. Which one was he anyway? The bleep bleep bleep bleep bleep ramen dude?
Definitely didn't want them sitting around a campfire. However you would think they would try to work together in the beginning instead of immediately fighting. The first (only episode I watched) episode was so ridiculous in that there was immediate conflict insanity. I honestly cannot imagine 14 people being put into that situation with no discussion on how they are going to live. Maybe it happened and they took it out and only showed fighting?

Um, no... I'm still hoping for BB even though it was total crap this summer. This show would be TOO MUCH!!!

Actually, if they had drama, let's still try to act like adults and not spoiled little bratty kids. It's an abomination. I'd still like to see people trying to get along instead of this.
I watched the 2nd episode and I agree with your assessment. They're all nuts and not skilled whatsoever. It's kind of sad...maybe it's a hoax saying they're going to be there for a year. I just don't see it happening when you've got people taking money out of the safe, smashing food and stressing out those poor chickens. That Bella is one crazy somethin' else!!!
I would never commit to these people for a year...at least with Big Brother, there's a prize at the end and some compensation throughout. No, I had high hopes for this show, but they need to pull it out and quick. I didn't like X Factor either, but sheesh!
i'm gonna watch a few eps of the austrailian version just so i can see who has the better actors
