There will be way too many people visiting to watch any TV and GrandChildren to play with.

Not interested in any of the shows they are marathoning. For people who just want to decompress and stay home that day marathons are a nice option, especially when the weather isn't nice enough to do something outdoors. It's just too bad there is not a more interesting choice.

I'm going to watch all of this season's eps of Parenthood, which I have saved for this particular purpose. Then The Newsroom.

Marathons are cheap and they know very few people will be watching anyway. Something to fill the schedule with. That said, the football games will be on all day for Thanksgiving where I'm going though it's rare for someone to sit and watch an entire game.

They used to have Twilight Zone marathons on New Years Day. I love those.

I wont be watching it live but I will surely be DVRing the "Dirty Harry" marathon. They should include "The Gauntlet" just because even though it isnt a Dirty Harry movie, it might as well be one.

If I hadn't been watching Dirty Harry movies for the last month on Sundance, I'd be watching that marathon. I like Magnum Force and Sudden Impact best.

Marathons are good for catching shows/series that you missed the first time around or just never noticed.

So here it is, 8 AM on the East Coast -- still to early for parades, hours before any football game is starting, and WAY too early to go to my relative's for dinner….

Luckily, H2 (History 2) is showing a marathon of The Men Who Built America. Sure, it's history "lite" for those who've actually read history books, but perfect for me.
