I wouldnt mind watching a late night talk show on the alpha nets but the crowd is just way over done.. does anyone else find this annoying? They crank up the volumn on any and everything said or done ...When and if I do watch I have to have one finger on the volumn or mute button. Whats up with the crowd gone wild? Do the networks think the loudest audience will garner the most veiweres?

It's not just late-night. Early morning news shows, afternoon talk shows… any kind of show/any time. Plain old applause isn't enough anymore. I mute half of what I watch!

I agree! How about the Ellen Degeneres show? The audience screams way too often, and way too loud. The Price is Right is the same way. So irritating.

I watch the Ellen Show all year around, except for the 12 days of giveaways, and the week before the 12 days of giveaways when they advertise the 12 days of giveaways at every single commercial break I just don't even turn the show on at all.
I really can't stand all that constant amplified excessive screaming and sobbing. It's not pretty at all. It was the same when Oprah did it. I don't watch many game shows, but I imagine it's the same thing.

Applause I can live with. What really drives me crazy is the constant clapping. Contestant gives the wrong answer and within seconds they are standing there clapping.

I know what you mean. How about when a contestant doesn't win the super expensive prize and they say, "That's Okay!" Like heck it is.

Yeah, loud clapping and audience noise, laughter, etc. Annoying. But what's even worse is the commercials are SO loud!!! I DVR pretty much everything so I can fast forward through the commercials, but sometimes you don't fast forward it enough and it's still on a commercial and it scares the hell outta me because it's like the TV is turned up full-blast when it really isn't!

Yes! And supposedly a while back the FCC clamped down on that issue and the stations toned down the volume so that they weren't louder than the tv show/movie, but they're back up in volume again. I think what they might have done is not increase the volume of the commercial, but instead reduce the volume of the show/movie so that the sound is louder when the commercial airs.

Why don't you guys just turn up the dialog and turn down everything else? With a talk show, the dialog is really all that matters.
